I'm subscribing! I love renovation projects too so I'll follow your progress on that too
Are you a teacher? Just asking as you speak of school night hangovers(I am a teacher too, and only had ONE school night hangover: never again!

Hi Ellie
Guilty as charged! In 5 years that was only my 2nd ever school night hangover and it's not a joy I will be repeating again in a hurry. In fact, both occasions have been when I thought I had some bonus free periods the next day and then ended up packed with cover etc _pale_
Helped DH get another load to the tip today. Hand made built in wardrobes are no more in 2 of 3 rooms and a man with a trailer is coming Monday to collect the remnants of a fake brick fire place facade. Sadly we only have a few walls of woodchip to tackle and then it's twiddly thumbs time until the planning Gods make their decision- guess I'll have to occupy myself with spreadsheets and :money: until then :rotfl:Mortgage Outstanding Nov '16 £142,772.75Mortgage Additional OPs 2017 Target £4522.80/ Actual £865.00GC Feb 0/£2000 -

Hehe, I let myself go for the exact same reason! And never againI was paranoid pupils would guess!
Woodchip walls? What on earth are these? i'll have to google that!
You're lucky you have friends/acquaintances who are handy. We're slowly redecorating our house (moved in 6 months ago and the previous owner left it in a horrible state...) but we're on our own as hubby doesn't know anyone (and of course, I don't either!)
I know it can be painfully expensive to do up a house, but it seems like you got the worst house on the best street so everything you do to it will add a LOT of value.0 -
OMG woodchip walls... Right up there with Artex and minging carpet everywhere0
-
Oh god, woodchip walls... to be honest I can't entirely remember what delights await us in the new place but I know it extends to artex everywhere, fake veneer wood panelling, a crazy paving fireplace, avocado green bathroom (with no bath, just a shower!), skirting board radiators... <breaks out in a sweat>MFW Sept 2013 Starting balance: £101160.59 25 years

Have we all bought the same house? If its not wood chip on ours its artex. Then, to make it better, they put fake beams all over it! Those went to the tip today :j and our avocado suit has a tiny corner bath if you want it Kola KubeMortgage Outstanding Nov '16 £142,772.75Mortgage Additional OPs 2017 Target £4522.80/ Actual £865.00GC Feb 0/£2000

It seems everyone is playing hot potato with their avocado bathroom, haha.
I really don't understand the concept of artex, fake beams, etc. So much effort for something so...tasteless! Give me clean, fresh, neutral walls any day0 -
I thought my cream suite and carpeted floor in the bathroom (who does that?) was bad. You just reminded me, that's the other job I need to work up the courage to tackle in addition to the Mortgage0

Haha to fit it in Id need to rip out the giant chipboard handmade cupboard that takes up half the room... Not sure I could bear to part with it for something as useless as a bath... ;-PMFW Sept 2013 Starting balance: £101160.59 25 years

You have a bespoke hand-crafted cupboard in your bathroom? Ooooohhhh, there's posh.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
