Hey guys just. A update on barclaycard, I phoned them up to ask why it was a status 6 for July when account closed on 28th June 2013. The advisor who I spoke with said the account should show as a default I agreed with her as it has reported 6 payments late for the past 4 years she said she will update it to a default dated 30/07/2009. I wondered how she got this date so I logged onto my credit file and July 2009 was 6 months from my last payment.

Now my question is this, do you think they will really amend my credit file to display this as defaulted July 2009 she gave me her name and employe code for my records.

    Any ideas guys?

If they do it it would be fantastic

Why would she say she was going to if she wasn't?

because a phone call doesn't really mean much, anyone can tell you what you want to hear on a phone call then deny all knowledge once you put down the phone, I was looking to see if this has happened with anyone else and they followed up on there word.

thanx for your reply anyhow :)
  • Hey guys just an update here

Well as you know I recently settled this account after 4 years of late payment 6 markers in full.

I rang them and they wasn't budging to change the 6 payment late markers to show a default. However after many phone calls and and threatening that I was going to refer it to the ICO and the FOS they have now backdated it to show a default with a default date of August 2009.

I know using a paper trail is the most effective way but in this case I didn't even send one letter however I did make sure the call was recorded I took the persons name and her colleague number. It goes to show what a little persistence and a little bit of luck who answers the phone can do!

So obviously the person on the phone CAN change things :)

Thanks everyone for your advice :)

my credit score went up by 200 points I know its a meaningless score but now the account is 4+ years old so considered less significant :D
