    (i meant they shouldnt have given the info rather than they shouldnt PM people)

    because technically they shouldn't release his personal data unless they are sure they have his consent

    now i am sure they were pretty sure the OP was related to the person somehow - but this is what happens when you dont play by the book - people kick up a fuss and you inevtiably get criticised.
