Hi I hardly. Ever use ebay to sell. This is only my third time selling stuff. I sent a bag which went for £23. It was the only parcel not to arrive. Buyer has sent a message. What do I do now? They asked for a tracking number but I sent it first class as stated.
Thank you, I am finding ebay a lot of hassle!

You could ask your buyer to wait a little longer - you should be able to tell by their messages whether they are prepared to.
If the item does not show up and you refund your buyer you will be able to make a claim for loss from Royal Mail after 15 working days. I think the maximum you can claim for is now £20...
To make the claim you will need proof of postage.0 -

How long has it been since you posted it?
I personally like to get into the 2nd week before I refund, btu I always reassure the buyer that I will do so if they wait a little longer.
Whilst you can make an RM claim after 15 working days you won't get all your money back unfortunately as standard mail is capped at £20 for loss.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks alx2013. I have the receipt from posting don't know if that enough. They paid three weeks ago. Should I just refund? Sorry for all the questions.0

As alx2013 suggests, you can often tell an agenda from a buyer's message. I usually email a photo/scan of the Certificate of Postage, which reassures them that the item definitely is on its way to their address and was promptly sent to them.
Usually, if they are genuine, they are happy to wait a little longer, content that the seller is above board.
Putting myself in the position of this buyer, I think my first question would hev been to ask the seller to confirm if the item had been sent? And if so, when? ... I don't think my approach would have been to have immediately jumped in wanting a tracking number."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

Thanks soolin. Thanks porto bello, they give off a funny vibe if I am honest. I have no tracking number but do have the receipt of postage. Do you know how to make a claim with royal mail? I looked on the website and it said about evidence but I couldn't see a claim form. Thank you :-)0

Thanks alx20130

welcome to the world of fraud, the item probably did arrive. Buyer knows that without proof of delivery (a signature or tracked service) you can't prove it was delivered. If you have you post office reciept, you can claim compensation from Royal Mail by sending them a lost claims form. Usually takes around a month before they send you a cheque in the post. Business accounts get NO compensation which is why buyers who say their parcels don't arrive really do my head in as I know they're probably lyingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. So, all those regulars on here who have not received ebay items are liars are they?
Hmm, interesting theory.
OP, I send well over a thousand items a year , mostly untracked (unless I use MyHermes) and have about 3 losses per 1300 or so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
