God/Sim Games - any good ones out there?

I've been playing Pocket Planes for a while, though it's an iPad/iPhone/Android app, where you make money by building up and managing and airline company. As the game progresses, it does longer to buy a new aeroplane and open new airports, and to earn money you do have to wait a while until your planes land at their destination airport, so could be a few minutes a few hours before they do so. It's a good game when you got a few minutes to spare throughout the day, such as waiting for the bus, or during a lunchbreak, by the time you next open the app, the planes should have landed.0

I still like playing Caesar 3 on the PC.. its pretty old so you can pick it up really cheap.. also Pharaoh is good .. same as Caesar 3 but set in Egypt!
Anyone played Total Annihilation?0 -
Ever since I was a kid, I loved playing God/Sim/Tycoon games, things like Theme Park or Theme Hospital, Black and White, The Settlers etc.
Basically I love games where you get to micromanage a world, choose where to build things, make your people happy and so on, but it seems there are less of this type being made these days, and the ones that are tend to be The Sims type, where you build a world around a character rather than build a world for everyone.
Anyone else like this style of game? and if you do, post the name of some you think I should play
Hey RazWaz you have the exact same taste of games as me. Have you played tropico? It's about being the president of a tropical island, your in charge of the whole island.0 -
Loved all the Sim Cities which I played intensely and only just about to start on 4! Mega lo Mania was awesome too. Missed out on Civilisation completely, but had a go on the first or second one a while ago and can see what the fuss is about, will have to have a go at a few of them.0

I haven't tried that, and it sounds quite interesting, what platform is it on?
And for the other suggestions I already have, Civ 3/4/5, Populous, Total War games, Dungeon Keeper 1+ 2 and Spore and have played them to death.
The older ones I have and do play every now and again, but I was wondering what newer stuff is out. I'd love to see something like Theme Park/Theme Hospital get re-done using the power available for gaming today.
It just feels like this type of gaming is dying out and I'm very sad to see it go.0 -

Tropico is for PC and I believe there is one for the Xbox 360 too.
I have been hoping for a remake of Zoo Tycoon or sequel but I don't think there is anything in the making0 -

Tropico was really good - there was a Tropico 2 as well where you managed a pirate colony and I quite enjoyed that as well.
I love this type of game and I'm looking for some new ones too!0 -
How about Prison Architect, it's only in development still and it's abit buggy, but it gets better and better with each update.0

For those mentioning Civilisation, there is a free, open source version called FreeCiv available online at http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
It's not connected to the official Civ games, but is based around CivII and can be played solo, or against other people online. Not tried it myself, but have heard good things about it from friends.
ETA: There's also a free, open source version of Colonisation available at http://www.freecol.org/. Again, not connected to the official game.No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0
