    Oh I feel your pain.......

I have hellish neighbours and fag butts were just one of their 'weapons'

Just be aware that once you report to community police you will ahve to declare that you have if/when you come to sell.

    Sending emphatic vibes!

I wouldn't bother giftwrapping it, I would just take it next door, knock on the door, tell them I couldn't help but notice they don't seem to have an ashtray but instead of mistaking my back garden for one, here they go.

    Great suggestion :rotfl:

If they don't answer the door, that could be put in the note :D

I have one throwing glass over at the moment... I make it known if I found any more it would be embedded in his skull, I have numerous toddlers play out there and my cats and bunny.. as if it isn't bad enough he has made next doors garden into a veggie patch after chopping down all their trees.. he lives next door but one so it isn't even his garden to be in!!! He was seen walking up the street with his chainsaw one day only to return many hours later with his chainsaw and a tree trunk on his shoulder!!

I'd not spend any money on them.. but I'd pop a note through asking them to stop and contact the police if it continues, I would also mention this would be the next step in my note..

I'd be tempted to sweep them up and throw them back but that would probably inflame the situation so not really a way forward.

I'm surprised that so many people have this problem too. It's a disgrace that people think that it is acceptable.
We moved in on the same day as they did, and being a young family it took us a while to sort things out. We had a broken fence between our gardens, we kept proping it up until we could get it replaced. It took us 3 or 4 months but in the mean time they kept knocking it over. We couldn't prove who was responsible for the fence so we just replaced it.

In line with that we have a 5 foot wall that goes around our back garden. Considering they told us they front fence belonged to us, they have put a 2 foot fence on the wall. We didn't mind added privacy :) but the cigaerettes are coming over a now 7 foot barrier.

They are a funny bunch, They seemed really nice their house is always very presentable and they only smoke in the garden but then find it acceptable to throw buts and wrppers over.

Pigpen: You neighbour sounds like a strange one!
365days: We are hoping to stay here for good so I don't mind complaining. Especially if it's the only way to stop them.
Reddevil: For some reason I think they want us to notice, I was discussing it with my dad the other day and I said there must be a reason they have started doing this. We may well have upset them but myself and my husband can not think of anything. We are rarely here and consider ourselves to be a quiet family.
Mummyroysof3: It is late at night and when we are out. I have not caught them red handed as such. The fence is 7 foot.

 Surely they must think its a bit strange that a vegetable garden has just appeared in their back garden unless they asked him to do it.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

I would first just sweep them up and pop them over the fence in a pile onto their side. That might be all it takes and you've avoided getting into an argument with them over it.
They sound cheeky sods or just mindless idiots.

I have no idea.. but is amuses me hugely. They are students next door so they probably don't care.

Have you actually caught them doing it?
Maybe if you hear then outside having a smoke, get a video camera, or mobile and film them throwing them over. Take pictures of the ciggys as well. Then you have your evidence.

I'd be tempted to throw them back though, just to see if they get the message. Maybe if it's been going on a while, they think you are accepting it.
