Sorry, but I was unaware people were still using XP and Vista during the age of Windows 8. I am also assuming no one on this forum has RAM capacity above 1GB.

Assuming that makes your post all the less credible.(That's a polite way of telling someone that they are somewhat foolish.) Especially with the knowledge that Windows Defender(replacing MSE) is already bundled with Windows 8.

So your post should have been specifically aimed at Windows 7 users to have any credibility whatsoever. Don't see any such information within your posts.

So if anything should be assumed, it is that you simply should not be 'advising' anyone on a Tech forum.

MSE is not available with Windows 8 and the Microsoft website confirms this information. Anybody with Windows 8 wanting to install MSE will be informed by Microsoft's website. MSE can also be used with XP and Vista if the host computer has reasonable RAM. I was unaware certain people were still using computers/laptop with 1GB RAM capacity. Thirdly certain people are expecting alot from a free product Damn!

I was only offer advice to people who were unaware of MSE, that was the intention of this thread. But instead certain unwelcoming people chose to select me as a victim so they can make themselves look worthy. Such a shame.

Windows 8 comes with a new version of Windows Defender which is the re-branded "Microsoft Security Essentials" (MSE). When Windows Defender is on, you're notified when viruses, spyware, malware (malicious software), or potentially unwanted software try to install or run on your PC.

There's nothing wrong with MSE. It's an antivirus, it does its job and above all it's free unlike the likes of McAfee and Norton.

I remember a couple of years back the Techie Board 'experts' were telling all and sundry that AVG was a pile of kack and we must all install Avira or MSE because they were both the greatest thing since sliced bread. Oh how times have changed.

there is an article on the main mse website about free antivirus software and there is also a sticky thread in this section of the forum - so there is really no reason to start a new thread with this information on it.
moreover your assumptions are incorrect and the "advice" you are giving isn't really that useful - if you want to offer out advice then better(or any) research should be done
