Dizzi, this is true....

Took me about 10 minutes to get on last night (1017, world is full error). Then managed a good two hours of play before being booted off (as did half the Linkshell) but only took maybe 5 minutes to get back on again and all was well until I logged for the night.

It's really not acceptable that this is happening in the actual game (as opposed to the beta where, whilst it was still annoying (I barely got to play phase 4), it was to be expected as that's what betas are for, to find these things out).

I hear that Square Enix have suspended digital sales of the game until the userbase evens out and the worlds become less congested and also possibly a suspension on character creation too. It's not great. I am very surprised (well, not so much with SE...) that they didn't foresee the demand (even based on pre-orders and beta tester numbers) and have potential extra server capacity available, rather than the mess that has ensued.

However, as I said, the actual game is superb. Hopefully these issues will be solved soon and people will give it a try because it's stunning.

Sessie - little tip if you're mashing buttons to get on on the PC... the 0 key on the numpad acts like the console confirmation button so you can spam that and it takes the amount of mindless mouse clicking down.

I'm tempted by the new FF but last time I played a MMORPG I got addicted and wasted many hours on what was eventually server wiped

Well the older online ff is still going at 12 years or something insane like that. Population's dwindling now and I think they'll be merging servers soon to keep the numbers up but 14 is smashing records for launch and concurrent users and for all their faults SE still haven't ditched their old product and are even revamping the user interface on that.

14 is coming to the ps4 as well which will give it more longevity since console mmorpgs are rare.

I spent YEARS on FFXI, seriously, spent as much time per week on that game as I did in my full-time job!! (this was, obviously, pre-children!!)!. Absolutely loved it!

Before 14 came out, I was worried that I'd start playing and get addicted like before but I seem to have grown-up somehow (! not sure how THAT happened, I still laugh at fart jokes!) and around 10.30 pm my mind says, ''Yes I KNOW you want to stay on until 3 am but when the kids wake you at 6 am... will you be so sure?'' and I reluctantly log.

I understand that the game has to fit around my life now rather than the other way around as it was back in Vana Di'el days. There will be times when I can stay on late or spend weekends there when the children go to stay with their grandparents or whatever but I wouldn't miss the experience of this game for the world, just because I can't play 24/7. Give it a go... maybe see you there!

Also: am playing on PS3 (friend in same house playing on PC) so A-button mash it is for me, Dizzi!

I'm replaying the old Resident Evil games 1 and 2 from the PSN store. I use to love playing them in my childhood and they are pretty cheap compared to what the top games cost today. Many hours of gameplay.
