CPW Returns

I took out a Vodafone 24m pay monthly contract phone from Carphone Warehouse online on Saturday 8th June. It was delivered on Monday 10th June.

The returns policy on CPW's website states "You can return or exchange almost anything you buy from us online or over the phone. As long as you let us know within 14 days of the day we first try to deliver your product."

I'm not getting on with the phone and want to return it and take out a new contract for a different phone. I plan to ring CPW in the morning as there lines are closed now.

My 2 questions are:

1/ If I am using the 14 day return policy, tomorrow is the 14th day after they delivered the product. Can I still return it tomorrow ON the last day? I am saying yes, but I just want to be 100% sure.

2/ I transferred my mobile number from my old provider (Orange). If I cancel this service, will they be able to provide me another PAC code when I take out a new contract again? Retaining my old number I've had for many years and already transferred to them.

Hope someone might know the answer to these at this time of night! :)

Most mobile retailers allow a return within the time period stated but usually state ' the phone should be returned in its original condition and the sim should not have been used'.

Carphonewarehouse mobiles are supplied unlocked from any network, by inserting the sim you have installed network settings.

My last phone from Carphonewarehouse had a label stating not to insert the sim and switch on if you might need to return it.

The PAC has already been used so your number is now with the new network, if you want to keep it all you can do is keep the contract and politely ask the retailer if they would be willing to let you have a different phone otherwise your number will be lost.

If you cancel the contract how can you ask for PAC ?

I do not know if their returns policy relates to circumstances where the customer just 'cannot get on with the phone', if it's not faulty why should they be inconvenienced ?

I am assuming from the fact that you say you have transferred your number that you have in fact used the new phone, sorry if that is not the case.

Assuming you can return the contract and phone you will be issued a PAC by the network. Just make sure and use it within the given timeframe.

    @Bingolingo
Thanks that was my understanding. I would cancel within X amount of days notice and they provide a PAC code so I can still retain my mobile number.

Yes I understand the 'inconvenience' to the business. But as a consumer if I have a right to return a product within a set time frame I want to exercise that right. "Not getting on with it" may sound petty but I don't mind the phone but just wish I chose something else, so if I have a choice I'll change.

I might infact be able to just change phones according to CPW's returns page as Vodafone is not listed as not allowing exchanges.

EDIT: After looking at this page it sounds like I can't return or exchange! I'm not majorly fussed, it is a good phone (HTC One) I just prefer my old iPhone 4S so wish I'd of either kept my 4S or gone to a iPhone 5.

That page in your post was for returns for items bought in store.

This is the one for items bought online or over the phone:

Unfortunately you have now gone over the 14 days so unless they show some goodwill to you then you are stuck with it.
