I cried during both the wedding and handfasting vows, my bride didn't. At one point I didn't think I was going to manage the wedding vows at all. There goes my reputation as a hard hearted bloke ;)

Awwww :) You blokes are big softies deep down!

Everyone is telling me that, that the day just flys by so quick, that its hard to take everything in. I am one of those easily bewildered people, and occasionally get a bit nervous when in groups (though not all the time) so me and OH have pencilled in half hour during the reception, where we are going to go off and have a cup of tea together, just the two of us. sad hey lol

That's really cute of you keeping the receipt as a souvenir, I do things like that - when my OH proposed a couple of months back it was a complete suprise, he did it in our favourite resturant, so i kept the receipt from that night in my little weddingy box xx

Ive always been like that, reprint receipts, concert ticket stubs etc etc! :p

That's nice that you've pencilled in some time together to sit back and take it all in, it all goes that fast! My memory is shocking, and I'm worried I didn't take it all in properly and I'll forget bits!

My whole day went in slow motion. It went on and on and on... I think it helped it was very informal but I aware it was the longest day.

We had loads of time together so don't feel we missed out on anything.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Georgiegirl do you mind me asking how you arrived at the blacksmiths did you and your husband meet there or go together. Also what music did you have playing, i saw in another thread you didn't know what kind of music there would be.

Hi walkerbev :) My parents and I stayed at the Smiths Hotel the night before, and it is literally just opposite the Blacksmiths shop, so we just walked over. My husband (wow that still feels weird lol!) just drove through on the day with his Mam and parked in the hotel car park. They debated wether to wait or not, but they thought they were running late and that we'd be over already (we weren't, as we were running a little bit late!), so they just went over. We'd agreed anyhow that we'd just do that.

The music was just some kind of Scottish piping music (I thought it sounded like the beginning of Star Trek or something at first :rotfl: ), but we could have had a real piper for £20, but we said no, as we thought it would make us even more emotional with the dramatics of it all....looking back, that's one thing I regret, it would have been nice to have been piped in and then piped out again, and I felt bad as the piper came in to see if we needed his services, but I guess not everyone does take him up on it? I told the OH that I felt bad, and he said that he didn't really like bagpipes anyhow, so that made me feel abit better.

Are you getting/thinking of getting married there?
