Judging if you can get a sofa into a flat?

A relative recently had a problem working out whether a sofa could be manoeuvred into her new flat. The answer was simple - she measured up the spaces the sofa had to get through and took the results with her when looking at sofas. The shop assistants were all incredibly helpful in suggesting what would and would not fit.0

Apologies if I've missed a similar post'n'answer - but what floor is your flat? I ask because mine is ground floor and I have French Windows in my living room. Some of my furniture (principally bed and sofa) wouldn't fit through the front door but DID fit through the French Windows.
And - because I can't help myself at this time of day - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5XX9LX2es4
OP - I wish you every happiness in your new home. x0
