Is it just wireless thats slow, what it like with Ethernet?

OK Is it Sky LLU broadband, or Sky Connect broadband?

Now log on to your router by clicking :-
    http://192.168.0.1/sky_router_status.html

The user is admin, the password is sky.

Scroll down and click on show statistics and post them they will look like this:-

    Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9213 kbps 1109 kbps
    Line Attenuation
    44.5 dB 26.1 dB
    Noise Margin
    6.0 dB 6.6 dB
To analyser overlapping wifi download inSSIDer.

You can change the wireless channel on your router by clicking on the wireless tab.

Have you tried rebooting your router? Mine slows down to a crawl regularly and any page with a lot of graphics will fail to load completely; a reboot usually fixes it.

If you have an Android phone, you can use Wifi Analyzer to recommend the best channel to use in your area.

Well my figures are a lot less than yours -

    ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 380 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 51 db 33 db
Noise Margin 7 db 16 db

With a line attenuation of 51db you should be getting around 5 to 6 mbps.

    Something very wrong here.
You can get this problem if you have two filters connected in series.
Is your router plugged in the Master socket?
If not try the stats again with the router plugged in the master socket.

The nxt step is to eliminate your house wiring by plugging the router into the Master test socket.
To do this you need to unscrew the faceplate and connect to the internal socket.

    Then try once more.

the router is already connected to the internal socket
from the filter it splits and goes to the router and through the wall to another filter which then splits to the sky box and cordless telephone

Have you used any of the suggested tools, such as Wifi Analyzer, to look at wireless networks in your area? I don't believe this to be the sole cause of your problem, but there's a chance it might not be helping matters.

You have a downstream connection speed of 380kbps which roughly translates to a download speed of around 47KB/sec. In todays terms, that is poor.

This calculator tells me your throughput should be about 4191kbps, or around 523KB/sec. Does that sound about your normal download speed, when things are working as they should be?

Have you checked your microfilters are correctly installed? Do you have one installed at the end of each phone socket or extension? This page tells you how to install them correctly. It might even be worth trying with just your Sky router plugged into the master socket on it's own to determine faulty telephone wiring inside your house. Also, if you have any, check your pets haven't chewed any wiring.

OK, disconnect everything apart from the router.

Do you have anything else wired from the back of the master socket, house alarm maybe.
Have you always had this problem?
