Moved into new house - line still connected from previous owner - BT trying to ma

Hello all

Recently bought a house. Moved in - arranged to go with EE as orange customer. Router arrived. No Internet. Rang up EE turns out the request I put in was cancelled! By who I ask? They say the line is still managed by another provider but seemed unable to say who. I rang BT , they said they'd have me set up in 11 days. I asked them the cheapest offer they said £ 23 - though their website offers a range of tariffs. I rang EE back and they said they could put a new line in for £60 but would be at least 2 weeks before engineer comes out.but I already have a line, it seems madnesses! I am trying to get hold of the previous owner. Otherwise the options are - 60 quid to EE for new line. Or Go to bt - but the comments I read about them is very off-putting!

Any ideas?

If you look you'll find bad comments about all ISPs. Go with one who won't charge for a new line (BT and TalkTalk don't and there are probably more too)

bt line good, bt internet bad
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If there are tags already on the line then it will take 2 to 3 weeks to clear them regardless of provider.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
