  • Yikes its nearly only a year to go! Still only got dress, venue (dep) booked, register (dep) booked, bought a few bits here and there.

Have bought some artificial roses from eBay just to test to see how I could make my own. Then I found some pre-made rose bouquets in The Range, but I went back to buy them all and they looked a bit scruffier that time and looked as though they might be the end of the line. I hope not as I'll struggle with it if they are!

Had a few try-it-out ideas for like the table plan but still coming up short on this as tried to find card that matches the ribbon that's going on our invites and none of it's quite right. Any suggestions welcome at this point!

Also I bought some mini easels from The Range. They're tiny but will be great for table names, just need to think of ideas for a tiny canvas/card to put the table names on! I will probably paint them ivory as well as they are currently wood colour.

Still got to get the boys' suits, the girls' dresses, rings, get alterations on The Dress, as well as sort out what I'm doing with these flowers. And I've got to discuss the cake
  • Just sorted the flower issue! Woo

Wow you all done so much already
14th Sept here and so far we have our insurance and we've paid the deposit for our venue. Still waiting for the ap1 so we can book the registrar. I'm a bit worried that its not booked yet but surely with a year to go there's plenty time :)

    Still lots more to do
  • Wow. awkward. I feel like I've done nothing.

Still waiting for an invoice from photographer
Still waiting for a price list from venue (although we are booked in)
Still waiting for my minister to decide how much she wants to charge us for the church (very sweetly wants to give us mates-rates as we are regular members, but hasn't decided what mates-rates are. Bless her!)
Just cut out the muslin for my dress... not stitched it or anything -.-
Decided vaguely on a colour scheme... vaguely
I have loads of stuffs PLANNED but nothing actually paid for or finalised. Crikey... I should get to WORK

(Hi, btw, I'm new and getting married in September)
Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A
  • Hi

I am 12th September, so far me and my H2B have:
    - booked venue for ceremony and reception
    - booked appointment to give notice to the registrar
    - booked the photographer
    - booked a DJ
    - ordered and received our evening invitations
    - ordered and received our centrepieces/items which will line the aisle
    - booked our flower consultation
    - booked the honeymoon
    - ordered a bridesmaid dress
    - booked a date to go see wedding gowns
    - ordered some cake decorations
    - investigated options for having a second photographer
    - booked accommodation for night before the wedding
    - organised a budget spreadsheet, Gantt chart and payment schedule

I can't think of anything else. Hope everyone's plans are coming along well!

w00p Photographers invoice for the deposit came through, got 30 days to pay it though, so will probably try and sort out insurance first *sensible face*

STILL waiting for the price list from the venue... ugh.

What has everyone else got left to do?

  • Waiting to sort out the clothes (terribly nervous about dress shopping), the table runners, the ceremony (we give notice on Thursday), the cake and the day time invites. I think we have most other things sorted now.

  • going dress shopping on Friday :)
finally got confirmation of my venues license so waiting on the form so we can book registrar
booked and paid for all flights to NY/Washington and Miami for honeymoon - still need to book hotels
prototype wedding invite done - need to buy enough paper and chocolate bars but want to wait a bit on those until the best before dates are a little closer!
    photographer booked and deposit paid
    venue booked and deposit paid
    flowers booked and deposit paid
    insurance bought

still need to finalise the above and also decide on entertainment (wanting a jukebox and bouncy castle?) table names, table plan, menu, bridesmaid dress, suits, rings, favours, shoes, gifts and transport

H2B going home to Northern Ireland this week to speak to best man and sort out his families travel and accommodation :) while I go home to my parents and sort my mum out (argh)

still feels like loads to do! :D
  • Oooh melly, let us know how the dress shopping goes! I am making my own dress because it's going to work out a fraction of the cost, plus that way I can have exactly what I want, but I'm sort of sad that I don't get to have the whole dress shopping experience - I've contemplated going to try dresses on anyway, but I think the risk of me falling in love with a million pound dress is too risky!

Definitely go for the bouncy castle, I hear it's what all the cool kids are doing (i.e. me ;-) )

You seem to be doing really well though!
