September 2014

Options
Hi all

Anyone for September 2014? What has everyone sorted so far?

So far we have:

- venue and registrar booked (deposit paid)
- DIY invitations bought
- insurance sorted
- save the dates sent
- photographer organised

We have also sorted the ideas for some of the favours but so far only bought the boxes, as some bits can't get till nearer the time.

  • August 2014 for me so pretty close to September.

We have booked the venue and the caterer and paid the deposits.
    Photographer sorted- she's a friend.
Dates saved- we are having a destination wedding so we already have our RSVPs
    Insurance bought.

Nothing else bought as yet but everything planned to the nth degree.

And I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I know without looking that there are 406 days to go! :D

    September 2014!

I feel like we have organised a lot but we are waiting to receive the venue hire contract and pay the deposit fee before we book anything else. It's frustrating, as I really want to get everything sorted!

Here's a list of things we're going to have sorted by the end of next week:
    - Our venue! We've found it, viewed it, and reserved a date. We are just waiting to receive the venue hire contract and invoice for the deposit fee.
    - Wedding insurance. We're taking it out from Debenhams via Quidco.
    - Our photographer. I've found one who takes lovely pictures, is available on our wedding date, and have asked her to send us her contract. We'll sign on the dotted line and pay the deposit fee to secure our booking once we've crossed the above two items off the list.
    - The registrar. I've been in touch with the registry office and checked that there's a registrar available at our preferred time (2.30 pm). I've got their telephone number and just need to ring them to confirm the booking and pay the £50 deposit fee.
    - Our caterers. They are the ones recommended by the venue and I've been in e-mail contact with them since we viewed the venue. I'm just waiting to find out from them what the next steps are.
    - My wedding dress! I wasn't looking for a dress but noticed Monsoon had a sale on when I was out shopping. Found a dress I really liked on their web site, reduced from £299 to £149.50, so bought it. I'm hoping it will arrive tomorrow and I can try it on to assess whether it suits me! I think it's going to be quite tricky because I already know it's going to be far too long. I've obtained a quote for shortening and altering it, which is likely to be in the region of £150. I want it hemmed by 10" and the bodice altering to fit me perfectly.

My friend who married last summer has offered her veil to me to wear so that's my 'something borrowed' sorted! I've also chosen my bridesmaid and flower girl and we've chosen our colour scheme (navy and light pink).

We're moving next month so we are trying not to buy anything wedding-related until we are settled in our new place, as it's just more stuff to pack.
  • September 2014 here too....

Reading all the above posts, I'm starting to panic a bit!! We have soooo much to do!
We have just changed our plans, we had planned on getting married in Greece, and found the hotel we wanted, and nearby hotels for guests, started arranging all the legal paperwork like translation of documents etc but my OH's parents have been going through financial difficulties lately and won't be able to afford to come. We are on a budget, so can't pay for them either, Understandably my OH doesn't want his parents to miss the big day, so we have decided to scrap the whole thing and start from scratch, getting married at home.
We have no venue, we are really struggling to find somewhere we really like within our price range. We are looking at hotels and such like, so we can have a civil ceremony and the reception all in the same venue. We live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, so if any of you lovely ladies have any suggestions it would be massively appreciated!!
I have my wedding dress, and have paid for half of it.
We have decided on a colour scheme of purple and silver....That's it....
I can't seem to start on anything else until we can find a venue we like and can afford!!
We are looking for somewhere with nice outdoor space, as we would like to have a BBQ in the evening, and for the photographs. We can afford about £3,500 - £4,000 maximum for the venue.
Any ideas at all will be great!

Wow you have so much sorted already, we have a rough idea for around august/september 2014 (this is mainly because my OH sister will be away so its a bit much for her to travel to our wedding, his family will have to travel regardless but she will be much further away). Its annoying me that we don't have anything definite yet but hopefully soon we'll find something that works.
I'm trying to look into how much I can do myself, so we already have hair/make-up sorted as well as invitations since me and my best friend will be sorting all of that out.
My dad has offered to pay for my dress, so as a joke i asked my best friend to find the most expensive one :P. If she had the time she would've happily made my dress but she really doesn't unfortunately.
My mum has been asking around about cakes, and either my grandads partner would make one for me or her friend who recently opened a small business making cakes and such so thats something which is also sorted.
My OH dad made a joke a while ago that he'd by a kilt for my OH just to see him in one (he's from luxembourg) and recently said he'd still do so.
A lot of his family are into photography and do so as a hobby, so a photographer isn't a big concern of mine.
The main big things i'm looking for just now is obviously a venue for the ceremony and reception, if i have them in separate places it'd make the meal easier as I could then have it as only immediate family with a buffet at the reception. Flowers, just nice small cheap and cheerful for that, so not really a proper bouquet which as i've read can cost a fortune.
I'm waiting on deciding upon a venue before thinking too much about decorations as if they can offer for a small enough extra price to decorate then I may be happy to except that. And DJ's do seem not overly bad price wise so I doubt there will be much issue there.
Also transport is something which is also a wait and see as if my OH dad gets his way he wants to get another old timer car (they have 3 at the moment but one is currently being repaired and the others are 2 seaters) which is a 4 seater so if he does then our transportation may be sorted for free :)
Back after a wee break, need to mind keep up!!
