Any building inspectors or engineers, need some help.

every building inspector is diff what one will let go another won't, which is why you should always try to keep the same one throughout the job, for example they always want to look at the steels before they are plasterboarded & on one job this was done however on the final inspection it was a different BCI & he made us remove part of the plasterboard covering the steel in the loft because he wanted to make sure it had been double tackedI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Thanks very much, both of you. At least I now know what to expect tomorrow, and we can contact window company to see if a change could be made with little cost difference. (fingers crossed)0

Just to follow up in case anyone ever searches something similar.
The building inspector spoke with IG's technical team, and they were happy that the lintel would take the weight ok and would work sufficiently. Building inspector has just suggested for extra security, that we secure steel plates to wall plate and to underneath lintel, front and back or brickwork.
All in all a good minimum disruption solution. And we don't have to get another window.

That is fine. But also remember from a good practice view point the wall above the window exists to fit a pelmet, or curtain pole, or blind.
Your gap makes this a bit tight!0 -
Yeah that did come up in conversation this evening. As its a kitchen its not so bad, and if I do want blinds up we'll just sit them inside the window. I wasn't planning on having any to be honest as its a rear extension and I like to see up the garden (we live out in sticks so we're not over looked either).0
