PAC codes - will they cut me off!

Hi,
I am with O2 and 'out of contract' so phoned them yesterday but they only came up with the standard deals, despite quoting dialaphone prices at them. For many reasons I need to retain my existing number.

My question is if I try again, get nowhere and request a PAC, does this commit me to cancelling my O2 contract, or does the cancellation only happen if, and when I arrange a new provider? If I don't do anything with anyone else, will my service continue uninterupted?

Cheers, David

I think, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, that your contract is only terminated if you use the PAC. So yes, if you only request it and don't use it, your service should continue with your present provider.

Thanks for that guys, one additional question, if I do get a PAC code from O2, does it have an expiry date i.e. I get it tomorrow but it only last for a month, so would expire on 1st July, after which I would need to get a new code?

espresso, so I'm clear does this mean that my 'guess' of a PAC lasting 1 month is actually the right timescale?

    Cheers David

Yes a PAC is valid for 30 days, if it is not used the contract will continue.

In my experience in the last one month, O2 offers far better deal once you ask for a PAC. I was offered only 100min+50/100texts for £20/month when I asked for an upgrade, though I was already on £15/month 200min+100texts. The CS staff was rather rude, and told me this is the best they can offer, and I can either take it or leave it. When I asked for a PAC, they offered me 250 min+200texts (I think) for £15, but I had already decided to leave them for 3.

That was my thought, but didn't want to be backed into a corner if that meant you had to leave once requesting the PAC.

But if you do not use your PAC in 30 days, you continue to be on the same contract, as I understand it.
