Ebay restricted selling

I have been an ebay member since 2004 and have 100% feedback. :j But recently ebay sent me an email out of the blue saying I was BANNED FOREVER from selling! I tried to question why and it appears that the "star" system had a mildly low rate for postage despite the fact that the Post office rates increased in April..and this was when some nasty buyers did not check the ACTUAL cost of the parcels on their labels and just decided I was overcharging. Ebay just took the star statistics and did not check the actual real postage Ebay have refused to show me examples and say there is no appeal. There are people selling on ebay with appalling feedback and complaints yet they are still selling!!!
I cannot find any organisation that governs complaints on auction sites (eg like FOS, OFT etc). Can anyone help or has anyone had a similar experience? I need to know if I have been unfairly singled out here:mad:

Unfortunately stars mean everything to sellers and we should always watch them like a hawk. I started a thread here about the expanded dashboard:

You could try appealing, but eBay will have warned you previously, and the expanded dashboard should have also warned you there was a problem , so it might be too late. It is worth another couple of phone calls though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There have been a lot of threads on this issue. Were you charging the actua postage price or more to cover additional expenses?
If the latter that is why you have fallen foul of the star system. Check out your expanded DSR it will show how many 1's and 2's you have received for postage. You will have had emails warning you of the issues and really you needed to act then.0 -
Ebay normally give you 3 months to improve (must be month on month) - are you saying you got no warnings?
The fact you say the problems started in April - suggest you have failed to improve in April/May/June - ie 3 months.
I still think suspending an Ebayer with no negatives and 9 years of loyal custom is nuts though. Its open to low star attacks from rival sellers. Yet Ebay still seem to do little to stop the REAL scammers.0 -
The DSR star system is crap and doesn't work, makes sellers really stressed and upset.
Simply rely on the feedback %, that gave a good indication of if a seller was any good or not. The DSR system is unnecessary.0 -

The problem is though that buyers don't like to leave a neg if they are generally happy with their items, in the old days they did. but negs and neutrals seem much rarer now as buyers use the stars instead.
Sellers used to ignore their poor feedback as well on the basis of 'who cares', now they ignore the stars with the same result.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Trouble is, eBay DON'T ignore it. they don't check it but their stupid calculation system does and if The Computer Says No, they don't give anyone a chance to check it. I have googled " Complaints about Auction Sites" but the only info is about where sales have gone wrong and nothing about making a formal complaint against ebay themselves. I am just trying to get publicity out there as I cannot be the only person who has had this unfair problem?

Ebay are a private company and can ban you for whatever reason they see fit.0 -
They are still trading with the public and should still be taken to task if they act unfairly. Other large companies would be.Carh:A0

They have a set criteria for sellers, the small percentage, and it is a tiny percentage of sellers who don't meet that expectation and are banned.
It is not unfair for a shop, website or any venue to ban whosoever they want, a lot of the time they do not have to give a reason at all. At least ebay give a period of approximately 3 months warning to enable sellers to change whatever it is their buyers don't like. Really though that is the point, it is not ebay that decide who should go or not, it is ultimately up to the buyers- and if they have judged that you are below standard compared to other sellers then ebay can only act on that.
Have a look at the link I posted, go check all your expanded dashboard in detail, see if there is anything you can identify that might give you leeway with ebay. For instance, ebay do not like buyers that leave a 1 or 2 * across all 4 categories with no mention of an issue in feedback. Some sellers have identified that and have asked ebay to look at the dashboard and decide whether any stars are unfair . If you can get anythng removed you might go to 'below standard' rather than suspended and be able to recover from there.
It is a long shot but surely worth a try? Maybe ebay should have an automatic postage stars system i.e. it gives an automatic five stars if postage is say cost plus 20p. eg RM 2nd class packet is £2.60 and I charge £2.80 postage.
The buyer may think that's steep for a t-shirt they won for two quid, but that's what postage costs these days.illegitimi non carborundum0
