It's pretty negligent not to have retained statement information on a business account.

Asking for trouble further down the line.

Specifically, HMRC investigators can go back six years.

Yes I did see that the charge was £5 per sheet so I'm assuming that must be per page and not per monthly statement. Total rip off.

I don't think I received the original copies as I vaguely remember going paperless. It was a while ago and I cant see how I would have lost a year's worth of statements :/
I might be wrong but I didn't think you had the option to go paperless on a business account.

I certainly wouldn't have taken my business accounts paperless with Lloyds TSB even if it was offered.

They don't even offer a PDF folder to save them in.

Totally unsuitable for running a business.

I tried sending them the template letter requesting charges etc under the Data protection Act with a £10 cheque as per another thread suggested on this forum to see if this would work.

Would this ever apply on a business account?

If it was a sole trader account, since these are held in the name of the person, yes. If it was a limited company, no, the DPA only provides for individuals to obtain information about themselves for the £10, and a limited company (while a separate person, legally) is not an individual.
