Car Insurance, help

how do they define that I'm the main driver
The main driver in general terms is the person who drives the car most often. On my partner's insurance policy she is the main driver and I am a named driver.
She uses the car for commuting to work five days a week, but if we go into town/weekly shop at the weekend then I usually drive the car.
So partner drives about 80 miles a week = main driver
 I drive it about 10 - 15 miles a week = named driver
Similar sounding to your dad, I have my own car but just use partner's for little trips into town because it's a smaller, petrol car. My other car is the one I am the main driver on and partner is down as a named driver but purely for safety reasons - e.g. if I injured myself on holiday and couldn't drive.
You would be considered the main driver if on balance you are using the car more often than your dad is.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

i thought deciding who's the main driver is based on quantity as well, so who drives the car the most is the main driver but users keep saying things here that I thought I was missing something.
In conclusion what some users are asking me to do with my insurance is illegal as they are asking me to implement fronting in my policy -- lol that's weird0

Well if you want your own policy with you as main driver - obviously adding your sister will make it more expensive. But likewise if you add your dad as a named driver that could bring the cost down a bit.
Also as people have already said check Quidco etc. for cashback on the premium.
Check things like the excess amount and change it if you can to decrease the cost tooMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

yeah I'd like to buy a new car and my sister is a new driver so we won't let her use the car that much until she gains some experience, reason why I want to insure here, plus then chances are I'll be using the car more than my dad does so is inevitable that the insurance will go high.
Yeah I have checked the sites advised to me on here, churchhill is one the cheapest (i mean less expensive) insurances that I'm getting and there seems to be a £50 cashback; although from the review it seems like many people are not getting it as there's always seems to be some excuse for not giving the cashback.
Well, I'll give it a try and see if I can afford it. Thank you everyone0

If you name the driver with the highest risk then they insurance wont scream fronting when a claim is made.
Lowest risk makes a claim then they think easy way out here.
And their pockets are deeper than yours if you want to take them to court.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

There has been a situation where my insurance was cancelled recently and none of my deposit was returned. A small part of the fault was mine, which I did agree too but I was very frustrated because the insurance it self was at fault as well.
I asked here for help in this forum(there's a topic about CIS started by me) but the majority of the users said that there's nothing I can do as it's solely my fault, without understanding that the insurance should have been penalised but they were getting away with it.
Fortunately a few users understood the main purpose of my topic and they advised me to contact financial ombudsman.
I gathered all the info and provided my evidence, it took a lot of time but ultimately I got not only all my money back but also some compensation on top of that.
My point is that many people just tend to give up and overlook the situation. Just because there's a T&C that covers every point, it doesn't mean that rules mentioned in that T&C are right, ethical.
Now simply because they have deep pockets, it doesn't mean that we have to pay more for our insurance by putting the wrong named drive, simply because a higher risk driver is a second driver and they want to void the policy for that.0
