Can anyone recommend a cheap tri-band mobile please?

Hi all.

My son is off the Glastonbury next week, then off to Croatia, and so forth, directly from there.

I gather than he needs a 'tri-band' mobile in order for it to work in both the UK and Europe (please correct me if that's wrong?).

Can anyone recommend a cheap tri-band mobile please? He has a new iphone but we don't think it a good idea for him to take that, plus the battery is carp on them.

Cheers all.

    You're a star! Cheers very muchly. :)

Edit - I see he doesn't need a tri-band at all! Dual band will do. I reckon he was trying to diddle another expensive phone out of me! The scamp!

Assuming he only needs to call and text, there is a good choice of cheap PAYG phones. However, he presumably needs it to work on his existing SIM, so it will be more important to get one that uses the same network or is unlocked - and takes the SIM or has an adapter for it. Look carefully into the roaming costs as well and make sure he/you know the number to call to get it cancelled should it get lost or stolen.
With that in mind, I'd go for a PAYG SIM as well as mobile. Then just look at the roaming cost. Best to pop into a phone shop, explain what you want and see what they can offer. Don't have to buy from them, but at least you'll be informed.

Thanks. I did suggest he just buy a giffgaff sim and bung that in. But I'll pass your comments on too.

    Cheers.
