Agree about the village, but no way I'd recommend Wellingbrough and not Corby. Welliingbrough is very rough IMO.

Have you ever been to Corby in the last couple of years? Or ever? It always amazes me the amount of people that haven't and still have such strong opinions. It's defineitly on the up IMO, loads of investment and development.

I worked at Corby College for nearly 10 yrs, so have a good idea of the place, the good things and also the bad.
Although I made lots of good friends during my time there, people who lived in the town, most of them wanted to move out as soon as they were able.
I then worked at the College in Kettering, and found it to be a much nicer place/town centre/nicer atmosphere.

I also knew someone who lived in Corby old Village, who loved it.

To be fair, there was visable signs of investment especially in the town centre while I worked there, but overall the place had alot of issues and I would not want to bring my children up there.

I also have a very good friend (whos family was Scottish and lived in Corby) and even they moved out, ending up in Milton Keynes. (!!!)

So, we should agree to disagree on that one, after all, we all want different things from where we live, it would be very dull if we all wanted to live in the same place.

    Hello!

I have lived in Northamptonshire all my life, Kettering, Wellingborough and Northampton (I now live in Duston). All have been lovely places but I would avoid Corby if possible, my friend recently had a brick dropped onto her car while driving under a bridge in one of the housing estates!! Having said that, everywhere has its rough bits, and you'll know the better/worse areas when you start to look around. I'd say best bet is looking M1 side of Northampton, lots of lovely villages, good schools, 1 hour from London on the train and only a little more by car (plus the current roadworks at Luton).

    Hope this helps :)
