That amounts to depriving a charity for your own personal gain. I maintain that this is disgusting and not very intelligent

Can you elaborate as to why it seems intelligent to you?
Or can you just put your hands up and say "oops, I had not allowed for the fact that each DD costs the collector a lot more than 1p"?0 -

Huh? With the exception of the Halifax Reward (which isn't the subject of this thread), literally 99% of the reason for setting up these accounts that need DDs is so that you can get interest on the balance you keep in these accounts. Chances therefore are that you would want to keep your balance well above £24 - -- and that you actually get a lot more than £2 net interest each month. Thus the chances of going overdrawn are next to nil. Not whilst you are on top of your financial affairs, anyway.0 -
It appears to be "intelligent" to put my own interests first (above the interests of the charities)Can you elaborate as to why it seems intelligent to you?
I am not concerned about the cost to the collector (as that is a matter for them and not me)Or can you just put your hands up and say "oops, I had not allowed for the fact that each DD costs the collector a lot more than 1p"?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I'm only doing the Halifax free fivers
The OP was asking about 1p D/DsHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
But still a chance, and you may lose your reward as the charity may look over its DDs and drop any donations below what it costs them to process it, or it may decide not to actually process the donation. Just because it processed it on-line doesn't mean the DD will actually be setup.
Works for me so far (touch wood) - I can always make an ad-hoc savings account D/D claim if neededHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

In any commercial environment, I would agree with you. But I most certainly will not agree when it comes to charities. It is disgusting, and shows a lack of intelligence, to deprive a charity of money. Even more disgusting and brainless if you do it consciously.0 -

So very disgusting.
I hope you will never need the support of any charity (say, St. John's Ambulance).
I can't get over it just how disgusting it is to leech of charities.0 -

I've had dealings with charities as a donor and recipient of whatever they do and I don't mindHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I put you on my ignore list now because I don't really want to have any contact with leeches like you.0
