  • Hi all, I've been lurking and just wanted to ask Mrs M a question. I'm also sewing 100 years, do you think it is suitable for my eldest to give to his head teacher when he leaves in September?? I brought it at the K&S show earlier this month, didn't even twig it was the one you were doing!!!
    As always lovely work everyone.

Maria I think that would be a lovely gift and appropriate for the occasion of your son leaving that school.
One of my DDs partners is a teacher and when he looked at it he said he would be thrilled to get something so personal that so much work had gone into from any one of his students.

Lancs-lady – Your roses are gorgeous, very effective and the colours are so pretty.

Mrs ceejay – Fab cup, very pretty.

Jamsponge – What a project, can’t wait to see the finished product. I think my bluebells is fidely, but it’s nothing compared to yours.

I’m not doing well with the stitching at the moment, OH is decorating our spare room, which results in the whole house being upside down!! I am hoping to get an hour, or even a thread in tonight. It really helps me to relax and sleep well so I should make more effort.

  • Just a quick question if I may? Where do you buy your threads from?

I've had a major catastrophe! I was sorting out my cross stitch bag the other day and the extra threads for "roses" have disappeared and when I say disappeared I really mean it. I think I've thrown them out by mistake

Anyway with it being a Chinese kit I thought that was that and short of taking the whole lot to a shop and trying to match up best I could I was basically done for.

Well after a lot of stomping about, turning the house upside down and being in a foul temper the last few days I thought I would start a new kit to calm down. Now when looking at said new chart I realised they had the numbers for dmc threads listed so thought I would check "roses" and YES there are dmc numbers! The relief is overwhelming lol (to know I've not wasted all that hard work)

Anyway my question is, where is the cheapest place to buy? I've checked ebay but sew&so are coming up a bit cheaper. I need 5 at the minute and it's working out at 4.88 including postage.

Last time I bought skeins they were about 40 each lol.

    Sorry for the essay! :o

Lancs lady I've been lucky and brought most of mine at the carboot. If you post a list of what you need I'll have a look next week for you. When I see them they can be as cheap as 50p
