old settled debt at linked address

Options
Hi

I had a few problems years ago but Am thankfulky back on track. All is fine with my file apart from a settled account with cl finance that they logged to a previous address. The default fell off my file shortly after I settled it. but they confirmed my old address in 2011 when I payed it. Therefore it still sits there as cl finance on the linked address. my question is...is it a problem with a mortgage application? As I say the rest of my file is very good. many thanks

Should not be a problem as far as I am aware.

This account - is it a defaulted account? If so, what does it show for "Default Date"?

I took it that it just was a linked address showing, with the provided by field listing CL Finance. i.e. not an account or default, as they say that has dropped off?

As far as I'm aware, a potential creditor will not see the provider of linked address on a search, so it should not matter?

Oh if it is literally just an entry under "Linked addresses" then it won't make any single iota of difference to a credit worthiness, no.

When a lender does a credit check on an applicant they can't see lender names or bank names under any of the categories whatsoever.

Hello... Sorry for not rechecking on this.
The default was placed on my file in 2006. And I finally got my head out of the sand in 2011 and started to clear everything to clean up my file. The default was due to fall off but I wanted it to be marked as settled as I was inpatient. In settling it with CL finance they have left a mark confirming me at the address where the default was registered. Even CL finance have told me that my account is settled and archieved and should make no difference. and that its just a link ....but now my mortgage application has gone back to the underwriters and has been with them for 4 weeks!!! this is the only tjing that can possibly be a problem. I have nothing else at sll and my credit files are sll squeaky clean......frustration is driving me to drink!!!

oh as an added piece of info....on recently applying for a mortgage that was declined I had found that 12 addresses were registetered with call credit...all the addresses were wrong. I'd never lived at any if then nor did I have any accounts linking me to those addresses and subsequently they were removed....but as I had only checked experian and equifax I was completely unaware until the mortgage was declined and they had said it was something to do with a linked address!!! As stated all the false addresses are now gone....re applying for a mortgage for another house ...but wortied sick as its taking so long :((

Ok an update guys....The link has caused the Haifax to decline the mortgage!!I feel that this is so unfair as if Id just left the thing to fall off in stead of settling it, there would be no trace of CL finance anywhere on my file now. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what I can do....this is awful, my credit file is the best it can be apart from that one link from a default in 2006 :(

I'm a bit confused reading the above.

If the account was defaulted in 2006, it should have gone from your file in 2012, paid or not. Is the account still showing?
