Tree up here today too. We ummed and aahed about it as our tree is an 8 ft one and we can't put it in the spot where it always goes as the house rabbits will eat it. In the end we put it up without it's bottom layer so that it didn't take up half the living room, and it doesn't look quite so stupid there as I thought it might. Saves buying another one we can't afford anyway. The Christmas village is now on the window sill and looks lovely from the inside if a bit silly from the outside. Very little else done here except bulb replacement and cooking, a nice restful day.

Well it has been a seriously exciting day chez Stilty -

    drum roll please ..............

Little Miss Stilty took her first independent, unaided and completely unsupported steps!!!!!!!!!!

We were getting ready for church when I could have sworn I saw her lift her bum away from the couch and take 1 step forward so I crouched down a little way in front of her and asked her to do it again, she did a few little practice steps on the spot then set off into the middle of the room doing 4 tottery little steps before I swept her up into the biggest cuddle ever - she then went on to show off to everyone at church when we got there. Could have cried tears of joy half a dozen times today at least - what an early Christmas pressie!!!!
  • Oh Helen, what an absolutely stupendous thing, wonderschoen as is said in Germany, she is an outstandingly clever little being, what a star, she is continually amazing with the incredible things she manages, oh be proud love, so very proud and crying's allowed this IS that big!!! Hugs and lots of them in celebration, Lyn xxx.

Oh stilty, I have tears of joy here for you and little madam. How wonderful :D

Dgs has just refused his tea and a bath as he has a nasty cough and cold, apparently all he wanted was his Grandad - obviously Grandy cuddles are medicine :)

Not even thinking about the tree till I get all these parcels posted but I have got a bag out of the garage full of decorations so its a start.

Well done to little Miss stilty! Best Christmas present ever :j

Re adult children - we've had so much heartache from our eldest two over the last decade, including all manner of lies, major debt problems, losing homes, severe depression, verbal abuse..... List seems endless sometimes! :(

I've got tealights out, Christmas cards go up tomorrow, LED fairy lights to get dotted around the house. The tree itself won't go up until the kids finish school, but the house will be all festive-looking before then. I made a few Christmas cards last night, first for a few years, and today made the pastry for mince pies. This time of year is hard for me, having lost close friends and family near/at Christmas, nearly losing mum last year, so am glad that I've managed the bits I have this week. :)

    A xo

Oh what wonderful news stiltwalker. Little stiltwalker has the world at her feet now. May her new found confidence get better and better and lead to more experience. Really lovely news and I hope you fall asleep gently this evening with your proud smile still in place.
