Come up here and have a bath. Our water comes out the tap actually boiling and we can get 3-4 baths a day if we wanted to! Coal fire always on lol
De-lurking again for a while.
Reminds me of when I was a kid and we had a coal fire with a back boiler.
My mum used to panic when the boiling water was coming out of the tap and run round asking us kids (7 of us) if we wanted a bath.
Then she would run a whole load off down the sink.
The real dramas were when the chimney was on fire, the sound of the roar and seeing the plaster cracking above the mantlepiece.0 -
I don't often post but read.
Kidcat - re christmas cake present thing. You could make small cakes using a muffin tin. There are lots of christmas themed muffin bun cases about and make small individual muffin size cakes. I did this a few years ago you just have to watch the timing when it's in the oven. I can't remember how long I had them in the oven but it wasn't hours.
You can then put a circle of icing on top with maybe silver balls etc.0 -
Kidcat,
Sleep must have done something because I woke up thinking about this cake cutting technique using dental floss or fishing line. I have questions about why this dad is making a youtube clip during his child's birthday, but he seems to have the technique down. Might help!

Another idea for those of you wanting to give pressies is to make ornaments. This recipe is probably the cheapest
http://rainydaymum.co.uk/the-quickest-ever-salt-dough-recipe
Although you can also do it with cinnamon and american apple sauce, which smells very nice. Unfortunately you'd have to stew and sieve the apples here as I don't think you can buy apple sauce which would make it take more time.

My mum always had a collection of different kinds of ornaments from students over the years. Of course, the nice thing about the cinnamon version is that they smell nice so a teacher who didn't celebrate christmas could hang it up as an air freshner.0 -
Gailey.....you said what children and OH had to eat...what did you have? You will really not feel well if you are not eating properly...as you are keeping the show on the road, please look after yourself first.

gailey I know it's difficult to eat when you are feeling like that, but you aren't eating enough and that is going to make you feel worse. You need lots more calories than you are taking in. Try aiming for lots of little snack meals during the day instead of focusing on meal times, that way you don't feel the pressure to eat at set times. High calorie things like cheese and full fat dips might help.
I know you don't want Ads, but I just want to say that I've been on them for a few months now and feel sooooooo much better and able to cope much more.
Please start taking care of yourself as you are the glue holding everyone together and they need you. You are doing a great job, but you and your needs count as much as everyone else's and it's not being selfish to realise that and act on it.

Also my DS2 didn't sleep through until he was 4 and in the end my health visitor had to get me to ignore him. He was waking up out of habit and didn't actually need anything. He just expected me to come and entertain him and settle him up to 8 times a night. Can you get referred to a sleep clinic to see if they can give you some tactics to help?0

SDG I agree too
diet plays a huge part is staving off the negative feelings. I've said it loads on here and sorry to mention it again but I keep off the AD's only because if my magnesium and B vitamin supplements. I only have wobble days now and don't at all need AD's full on. I'm not for one minute suggesting trying to bury depression with suppliments - right for me only because I know I'm over it. Wouldn't hesitate to go back on them if I needed them though.
Anyway, all that waffle to say eating little and often, varied plate, healthy snacks might just mae you feel that little bit better.
My rental deposit should be in my account by Thursday! It's took a blasting from my LL and I'm ashamed to say I really set to with the lady 'dealing' with it yesterday, but things are now moving. Once she gave me the go ahead for the full amount back she told me 5 working days for a BACS transfer. I completely and utterly flipped at her. She's had our paperwork sat there for two weeks and now trying to tell me that BACS takes 5 days! No pet, BACS takes 2 days, it will be in my account by Thursday at the latest won't it?! I really don't like making a fuss but enough is enough. They have made error after error, tried to cover her mistakes by lying (little does she know I can talk often to my LL) and caused me a lot of stress. Hopefully this is the end of it.
We have eldest DD booked into girls under 10's football coaching when we move (DH's new colleague) and I have been invited to Christmas drinks by my letting agent. Saturday is the day and I cannot wait now.
Have to tell you that I think we have the fridge freezer issue solved! We were out for a pub meal last night to say goodbye and were talking about cost of living/strain on finances etc. we mentioned we needed fridge and DH's mate who own the fishing tackle business chirped up he has one in the back shop that is just going begging that we can have! He's going to see if it still works so fingers crossed.
And breathe. So wrapped up in frustrations, anxiety and excitement. Feel like I'm about to burst!0 -
Morning, very cold here today but beautiful blue sky and loads of sunshine so I'm putting washing outside as I think it will dry.
FUDDLE smashing news about the fridge/freezer you know I keep saying it all feels meant to be? OK there's another one! what a lovely bloke to give it for free and how good is that to not have the extra expense of buying one in. Good for you over the Letting Agents, they've been incompetent to put it mildly so 100% right to take no prisoners with the contact woman. They will maybe think twice before trying the same tricks on anyone else thanks to you, well done. Please don't burst.................please, pretty please?Lyn xxx.0 -
Gailey honestly you need to eat, even if its snacking on the go.
Say cheese chopped up in cubes, just left in the fridge. So you grab a couple munch and go.
go Fuddle!! well done :T
Oh and on the bath front, ds1 and ds2 share a bath, ds1 goes in last. Myself and OH share, i go in first then him. We have an old fashioned boiler so once the hot water is gone thats it. So we share, works out well and the water is boiling hot so lasts for ages.
knew you get it sorted
Sq i would just say sorry that's what i've bought, heres a token £5 book voucher instead and i'll give the original books to a children centre on your behalf. I'm horrible and guess what 've done it before with MIL, she didn't like that it. But then she shouldn't be ungrateful. In our house we have the saying its the thought that counts.
kidcat glad your nearly sorted xmas were no where near, going to start having a look on thursday. just ignore the group thats what i'm doing. We normally bake things and the teachers fight for it!Honestly i've seen them with the muffins and chocolate slab!
Think we might make something this year like say a card and dough candle holder. Never thought of cinnamon, thank princess.
One of them is coming over at some point today, any nonsense and i'm throwing them out, i really don't care at this point how its looks.
I'm nervous at hell about it all, normally we all message each other, but after saturday nothing. not a peep. Shows the mentality, today is literally going to be a have go at kez day but i'm not going to have any of it.
sorry my brains in a muddle, still doing the mountain of paperwork here as well as sorting my dad out. CAB were completely useless yesterday, my dad was a total nightmare. Honestly he''s so frustrating so i came back in a foul mood, massive headache, to two very irate children.
DS2 scream and whined for nearly four hours straight none stop, in the end i walked out of his bedroom and left him. Feel sorry for the neighbours
Honestly i had to walk out, i thought tried everything else so now no attention nothing.
then i went off and helped ds1 do his homework, which apparently he forgot about. Then after a chat, just me and him (very upset), worked out he couldn't do his homework because his teachers haven't give him the notes he needed to do it. Poor of his very poor memory learning support have said he needs notes, power point etc and he hasn't had any of it. This along with being tired, frustrated and upset just caused two boys to have full blown kick offs and meltdown.
Thankfully i calmed ds1 and we very quickly wrote a tiny essay with pics. Its enough to take in, basically i typed and he dictated. He's really slow at typing so i thought to take pressure off i'll do it.
The whole OH sat on his back side, stinking the place out and refusing to have a bath.
So on Wednesday i have a meeting with ds1 form tutor and head of year and put it this way if they try anything they going to angry mammy come out and demand to know where his learning support is and why his notes haven't been given out since September.
Right back on stuff, already done two loads, got clothes sorted out and sent another invoice ogg. Its already:eek: 10am arghhh0
