  • Oh Pops how awful. Hope the hospital can do something for you to at least ease the pain. I will be praying for and thinking of you - as am sure will all your friends here. :grouphug:

You are all so incredible no matter what the problem you are there to pick us up and keep us going, often managing to inject humour into situations that are dire. Thank you.
I was sat in my group today with someone who was moaning how she gets no help is completely alone and how everyone else always gets everything on a plate. The others tried to explain she has lots of support is getting help at school and that she has to be strong and push for the rest, exactly as we have all done. She couldn't hear us and then said all she sees is darkness and helpless.
It made me think about how I feel now and I feel empowered, I am doing so much more than I thought I could and I am succeeding. The boys disability is no longer running the show and I am managing.
But my empowerment comes from you all to a large extent you have given so much strength and wisdom that you have enabled me and so many others.

Burtha I cannot begin to imagine how you feel currently but I will be thinking of you and your family and will keep you all in my prayers.

    Afternnon Everyone!

Lovely and sunny here, but the wind is very cold.

Had to take elderly cat to the vet this morning. He has been straining to 'go' all week, and was looking very uncomfortable. He is a poor scrag of a thing these days, so I was somewhat surprised when, during an attempt to take some blood, he latched on to my index finger and bit down - very very hard indeed. I did not squeal, but it was extremely painful, blood everywhere. Finger is now like a prime pork sausage, and quite sore, but I have a close eye on it for infection - I know I should have gone for a jab but we had him with us, and I always know best ;) so ignored sensible advice. I hope I don't regret it! We have to take him back in the morning, so have extended our stay here by a day.

Yes Fuddle, it means silver jewellery. Once upon a time silver was the poor woman's gold, but prices have shot up so much, I anticipate it to be an expensive venture. I will also work with copper, much cheaper but can be just as lovely. I sort of know all the basics because I did them at college, but that was a long time ago!

Have a good evening all, try to keep warm! Mar, how is the sock mountain coming along? :rotfl:

I lurk on here, reading along and occasionally posting. Sorry that I don't post more. I just wanted to say how sorry I am for everyone's problems. So many I can't seem to keep up and comment on individually, so that's one of the reasons I don't post more. But it is really good the way everyone who does post regularly is a support to one another. At this time, I especially want to remember BURTHA and POPS. Glad that things are working out for FUDDLE and NUTTY and hope that the weeks going well for GAILEY. I know there are more I should mention but my minds all over the place. Esther x

Hope they take care of you at the hospital Pops.
I currently have a raging 8 yr old as I've had the temerity to be cross with her for losing 2 coats (reversible fleece and waterproof) at school. She's insisting on some kind of miracle disappearance.
I suspect the miracle of putting it on the floor and not picking it up is more likely to blame. But they have a supply teacher and by all accounts the cloakroom is a disaster area so I'll need to go in and scrape through the debris myself I think.
Kidcat it's nice to hear you feel on top of things.

POPS make sure you turn of your appliances and sort out anything perishable foodwise that might go off and make the house smell bad if they do keep you in hospital. Make sure and take enough of the right gear with you to last you a few days, socks etc and teeth cleaning/washing gear and enough cash to at least buy yourself a paper or rent the overbed TV and phone for which you usually have to buy a card from a machine. Mostly look after yourself and hope you are back, fixed and fighting fit very soon, Lyn xxx.

PX87 Happy Belated Birthday for yesterday pet, sorry, didn't know but hope you had as nice a day as you possibly could, Love Lyn xxx.

Fuddle - I believe Hugh FW's progs come from the Dorset/Devon border area.

Kidcat - maybe the person at your group who is feeling low could visit this thread? As pthers have said, there is a mass of support here for all problems, whatever the issue, someone here has been there, done it, seen the film and thrown up over the teeshirt! And just as well, because local authorities and politicians either can't or won't help sometimes.

Popperwell = ouch! to the hernia. Hope you get it sorted soon.
