    Evening folks

Welcome to the new people who've appeared the last couple of days! Hugs to those who're ill, waiting for news, just plain worn out.... xx

I have an embarrassing confession to make - I said that the elders round here had done flowering, cos they look like it, and they've usually done well before now...but they're only just starting to flower! I feel really silly, saying I'd missed them, but also pleased that I've haven't, after all! :o:D

FUDDLE, glad your cordial is a success, looking forward to doing some now!

MrsLW, I LOVE that liqueur recipe, and will hie me to a shop for some cheap booze this weekend in preparation - thanks so much! Where do you find these gems? :)

Probably missed a post or two, but where have you all been getting kelp from? Dried or tablet form? Which is the most effective? Taking ADs, iron and Vit D, and trying to improve my diet, so need as much help as possible!

LISAKAY, my SiL does lovely Manch tart, even though we're not from there! Shortcrust pastry, then raspberry jam, sliced bananas, proper home made custard and dried dessicated coconut on top. Think the pastry is baked blind first, then the other stuff added in, but not cooked again, so the custard needs to be fairly thick. I'm not a banana fan, but I love her tart! :D

Was just wondering if any of you have a favourite recipe for Manchester tart? The girls school have sent a letter home about a world picnic and all of the children have to take in a dish from their country (they've done a survey and found that in their little school over 20 different languages are spoken) I thought we'd go really local and let the girls take one each in to share around. I've found lots of recipes but would like one that's been tried and tested if any of you can help xx

I have no idea how authentic this recipe is as we have never lived anywhere near Manchester, but my Mum used to make this weekly when I was a child and she definately called it Manchester tart and we loved it!

Bake blind a pastry case, when cold, spread with red jam of any flavour, make 1 pint of custard and pour over jam, sprinkle with dessicated coconut and refridgerate until thoroughly chilled and custard is set. Is lovely!

 Oh let the joy be unconfined.

Was a weary little personage last night so rested my head in bed at 10pm. And at a few minutes before midlight, was startled awake by another volley of fireworks from it Idiot Neighbour from Hell..............grrr! Inside the Towers FGS.

Haven't managed to get off to sleep since. That's the 3rd episode if just under a fortnight. All just before or after midnight and causing maximum alarm and disturbance.

    And breathe.

I was hoping to get up to the lottie after work today but unless I find some juice somewhere can't see that happening.

:) But we have a sunbeam or two peeking out, so that's a good thing and there's breakfast to look forward to, which is another.

Have a good one, peeps. I'm wandering off to get some matchsticks to prop my eyes open...............:p

I'll pass you my box of matchsticks GQ, you're welcome to a few. I don't mind people making normal living noises--even having people round late at night and talking a bit loudly--but I do mind people doing things that are just unnecessary and rude. It really gets me angry. Sorry you weren't able to get back to sleep.

I'm exhausted again today. Normally a light sleeper, I drifted back off right after OH's alarm and slept through him getting up and doing the last of the washing up from last night. Still feeling tired. I think it is a sign of the times that we're both looking forward to Friday because we have nothing planned!

The dinner was nice last night, I think OH's parents enjoyed it. Possibly even better news, we asked if we could borrow their futon this summer if we had some people to stay and they said we could have it! The next piece of furniture on our list was a place for guests to stay. It might be a bit tricky as they said we'd need to figure out how to take it apart to get it out of their loft and they looked a little worried, but I think we'll manage.

I managed to get a bit more done in the garden last night, mostly just weeding and tidying. It looks like several of the strawberries are joining in this blushing game.

Looks like the weather will be grey, cold and raining today. Just as well, as it is supposed to improve at the weekend.

I think the blackberry cordial looks lovely--that might be the first I try!

Hugs to all who need them.

FUDDLE, that's interesting, keep me posted! :D

GQ, I have some spare boxes of matches, so have one for when you run out of FPK's matches! We have some lovely young gentlemen round here who think it's a jolly wheeze to ride their silly little mopeds, fully revved, around the streets from about 8pm onwards, often until silly o'clock. It's only now and again, but they make a full night of it, and everyone's bleary-eyed the next day!

:( Sorry that you experience this kind of thing. We get it from time to time, too. You can call the Polis on their non-emergency number for things like that.

I'm feeling ghastly and have to go to work today. Could cheerfully throttle the beggars. I expect that they'll be accounting to themselves to the cops later. I just wish someone would get a search warrant for that place. I'm concerned about where they're getting these fireworks and if they have more stored indoors. Imagining a ka-BOOM sort of situation..............grrrr!

:o Just ignore me; I'm shattered, nauseous, headachey and not fit company. I shall slope off and read some soothing blogs and try to get my head together. Plus have more tea........
