  • CATH there's the FORAGING CHALLENGE thread, it's not specifically for recipes but there are some on there, I've got loads of books and I'll always try to find a recipe for whatever you've harvested if I can, and I really don't mind sharing them here, just ask, I'll do my best to help out, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Thanks Lyn. I have also posed this question on there. I just thought for convenience if there might be a thread specifically for posting recipes from foraging. I know there are recipe threads on mse but just wondered if there was one tailored to foraging. Kind of a no chat just recipe thread.
I shall be requesting some recipes from you. Thanks.

Just a quick question to all of you taking kelp - do you think it might help psoriatic (I can never spell it right) arthritis?
I am so fed up with feeling exhausted and down all the time.

Hi to you all, Ive just started my sea kelp yesterday, will probaly have to wait at least 5 to 6 weeks of supply in the system to see if it works, im hoping so too, ive got various things wrong plus ive also got arthritis, so I will give them a go and see out it turns out.........

Warm today and still a bit cloudy here, no rain , Ive had to water some things as theyve started to wilt...

SQ, Yes im getting rest this week and its been very nice doing my own thing and having no one to worry about, im not being selfish , but I need my own space at times...........I havent been far at all , dont need to ive got a lovely home and garden and I love being here rather than going out, thats me , I just want a simple peaceful life.....:D

Im quite worried about what central government will want to do today in regards to council cuts , bit worrying where else they can cut back..
    ?
Then again I think they should cut some offices down and get rid of over paid white collar workers, that get paid a substantial amount of salary.............I hope we dont lose our library , it was going to close last year and petitions got signed etc etc, it was saved , but for how long.......... Oh well we will see on the national news at 6 tonight ......Sheila

Hi peony I too have the dreaded fibro. It isn't fun at all. Good days bad days and the days when I can do a little thing is a joy. Lovely sunny day here so lots of washing on the line and the wee birds singing, so peaceful.
Do a little kindness every day.;)

Hugs to all struggling with illness etc, and good luck to the Kelp-ies! Do hope it helps you. I feel lucky every day I wake up and everything is still attached and functioning ....
My dehydrator has arrived! I "recycled" some unwanted stuff via the bay of E to buy it, I do like it when a plan comes to fruition, and talking of fruition, I have eight sliced bananas in it at the mo, it is nice and quiet, and they are beginning to smell lovely.
Fuddle, I noticed a few posts back you had bought some fresh basil; if it's the growing sort in a pot, you can gently take it out of its pot and separate all the little plants. Then pot them up individually. I did this with an A**I plant a couple of weeks ago, and now I have fifteen basil plants enjoying the sun - all for 89p! OK, plus the cost of some potting compost (not much, biggish bag from B & M) and some recycled pots - I often use yoghurt pots (the bigger ones, 500g I think) and make a few drainage holes in the bottom with a skewer, heated - I find this makes the neatest holes. You can do this with all the supermarket herbs, just be delicate and gentle when easing the roots apart. HTH!

    Hi.

    I couldn't resist a quick visit while I'm having a tea break.

Well done on the Cordial. I absolutely love elderflower Cordial and used to make it when I lived in the cottage and had an unlimited supply of elderflowers. As it is I now content myself with making concentrated orange squash - doesn't look anything the bright orange of the commercial stuff but tastes lovely. I gave a bottle of it to one of our Drop-in girls who is trying to come off the alcohol and am wondering if it has made things easier for her - I'll hear next Sunday.

Shegar; so glad that you have had a nice break. I agree that if you have a nice home the chance to be quiet and enjoy it is a priceless gift. I often think that I wouldn't mind living on my own but having never done it I could be wrong. Just sometimes it would be nice to be thoroughly selfish and not have to be always accommodating other people. I hope that you feel refreshed.

Mrs LW: what need have we for Google when we have you? You are so kind and generous with your knowledge and wisdom. Thank goodness we know you!

Fuddle, don't worry about me, I'm as tough as old boots. I just like to play the martyr occasionally.

    Back to the salt mines!

    Thanks Lyn!

Tattycath you can search within the thread so search for 'elderflower' will bring up all the posts that contain the word elderflower. Hopefully that will make them easier to find.

The cake thank you! I have mint growing (although not spreading, just getting gangly) and that was from a supermarket pot. This basil is the most potent and beautiful smelling supermarket kind I've bought so would like to preserve it. :)

My pleasure, Fuddle! You can do the same with the mint, and if it's getting gangly just nip the ends out - or be more brutal if you want - then it will bush out nicely. Mint likes to be well watered. Basil likes sun, and plenty of it (don't we all!), and will die off at the end of the summer. If you turn it into home made pesto it's gorgeous (any nuts will do, you don't have to use the very expensive pine nuts!), but I am not sure of the best way to keep that lovely basil flavour through the winter ... any suggestions, folks? I think fresh herbs make a huge difference, and are one of the nicest things about the summer. Enjoy!

Much appreciated. Mint in boiling water for me tonight then, it needs a good pruning.

Monnagran, you're not a martyr at all. You're a very kind lady who wants to help anyone and anything that comes your way. The downside of that is it leaves you with baggage, mostly of the emotional kind. As long as you're ok and watch that kelp. I don't want to read you're paragliding or anything of that sort do you hear? ;) xx
