Fascinating footage of Donkey-stoning. If you're impatient like me, the real action starts around 1:30 or 1:40!

OOh, new people joining while I look away! Welcome to all!

Sheila, I'm usually in bed before 9, even on a weekend, so I know how you feel! I hope the cold passes quickly!

I too have lurked for a very long time, I had a breakdown 3 years ago and you lot brought me back to me. I have cried, laughed and worried with you all, but you are a lifeline and a tonic to so many so keep up the good work. Bless you all. I too wish I could send Fuddle some elderflowers, our trees here are literally dripping with them'

:smileyhea That's such a lovely remark. I feel a bit choked up now. Thank you from my corner, anyway.

Love sweet pea cottage and peony's names and wave Hello to them and to PollyBear.

I seem to have missed all the excitement as I spent most of the day tackling the gas double oven and grill. I used an oven cleaning spray on the oven and grill- left it for 40 mins then rinsed off - used metal pad for any stubborn marks then sprayed again - and repeat. Had my heart in my mouth when removing glass doors so I could brillo pad them and then replace. It took hours but they look great now and I used the astonish cream I had to clean the sink and also to remove black marks on the white sinks. I must have subconsciously picked up Fuddle's question about cleaning an oven.

Lovely to see the new thread and the picture - thanks Fuddle!!!:A

In Scotland in the sixties they did not refer to donkey stoning but used something called pipeclay when cleaning the tenement stairs.

After slaving over the kitchen I felt I did not want to make a hot meal as the sun came out so made a huge salad with chicken and sliced ham and ate in the garden.

DH says we have a couple of strawberries trying to go pink in the garden but not getting my hopes up as they got rained on last year and blighted or something. We still see a baby bunny in the garden and the field across the road has taken in the bales of hay (or straw or whatever they are) but I miss seeing the cows in there.

Never hungry but probably as a child meals were simple and cheap and we were in a similar situation Possession and now I have kind of returned to the meals I knew or others from bygone times.

I said on my blog only yesterday on the same day that Mum returned(still feel ok)the following on from the food memories and times past...there I was in the early hours...

"I know that there were as many terrible events happening in the world when this series went out but it brings back so many happy memories of a happy childhood and being part of a close family and having wonderful parents.

You can't but I can understand why sometimes you wish that we never had to grow up but for a few minutes its good to return to those days and still have that sparkle and realise it still exists inside, somewhere.

The US TV Series Bewitched..." and as available on You Tube I may very well watch an episode daily...

How lovely to have new additions to the 'family' - welcome, enjoy this lovely warm, friendly (and informative!!) thread. xxx

Jeeves (catten) update: dear oh dear, he is quite the naughtiest cat I've ever had ... this morning I came down to the kitchen to find rose petals strewn over one half (from a vase on the side), and coffee grounds (I keep them to put on the garden: miraculous growth!) over the other. There was a full grown crow (alive)under the table, and Jeeves looking a tad concerned. I let it out and it flew off. This comes a day after a mole went to ground under the sofa, and three dead voles were draped on three stair risers .... then there was the snake (dead), followed the next day by a stick (also dead, I think ...). He has only caught a mouse once; I praised him very enthusiastically but I don't think he was listening. I love him to bits, but wish his 'hunting gene' was not quite so well developed!

Forgot to say in earlier post that I have also decorated the screen and my computer desk with varying beverages, especially when reading GreyQueens' various exploits, keep them coming girl.

Pops, I used to watch Bewitched with my grandmother when I visited her...on repeat, obviously. We also watched I Love Lucy and I Dream of Genie, and sometimes the Andy Griffith Show, although I do not think it was on repeat as often.

I forgot to wave Hello to nan2many and and Nymphadora as well as anyone else joining.

Was SDG asking about garam flour? If so I use it to make onion bhajis or cauliflower ones - just add spices and a little water - dip sprigs of veg in mix and shallow fry till golden.

Enjoyed being able to eat in the garden this evening and just need to clear up dishes then have some time on here. Strange without youngest who is away till Sunday night with friends and with her sister having a meal out tonight and tomorrow. Just cooking for three seems very odd as I am used to cooking for six of us.

    Hugs to all
