 We've got a brawl! And I've called the Polis. And I had a robbery happen in front of me on the way to work this morning. Sheesh, two calls to the Polis in 10 hours, must be a personal record.

SG is away, she's gonna be kicking herself for missing this.

I am positively green reading sugarpuss' description and seeing fuddles picture of the swans and someone else's description of where they live though can't remember now who it was. How lovely to live in a nice place with lovely scenery around. Even if the house isn't exactly what you want it must help. We live in a suburb of a northern former industrial city and though it could be a lot worse and we have a garden, it isn't very pretty. I'm not complaining, as I said it could be a lot worse and we are sorting the house and garden gradually. I love being outside when it is nice enough.

I recognised more of people memories from my childhood when I was reading through but most of them have escaped me now but someone asked about jubilees and I remember them. They were massive. You can still get them though they probably have different names now but they are tiny in comparison. We had the set meals on set days in our house. Always a roast on Sundays which I hated. Not the meat but the potatoes and green veg which we had to eat before we could leave the table. Then the meat cold with boiled potatoes and peas on Monday. That was much more acceptable to me.

Tonight is the third night of my rubber chicken. Chicken reheated in gravy with homemade wedges and peas. Last night it was with rice and stir fry veg. I have the bones in the slow cooker making stock and still have some meat left. We have meat or fish with every evening meal but only a small amount; about a couple of ounce each. So a chicken can do us about four meals plus a couple of lunches. Really good value. If we have pork steaks obviously we have more meat though sometimes I cut a couple up and stir fry or stew for four portions. Funnily enough, when I was growing up we always had beef, and we had chicken very rarely as it was so expensive. It was a real treat. Now it's the other way round.

I add oats and lentils to mince and no one notices that it isn't all meat. Infact I can get a lot of portions out of 500g of mince with added veg too.

I think it's alright as we aren't suppose to have meat every day so spread over the week probably about the right amount but enjoy more than if we had mostly vegetarian.

FUDDLE: glad you enjoyed your cordial. I haven't managed to find an accessable tree. I have seen some that I have thought may be but have turned out to be something else.

    God bless, Esther x

Bunbun my youngest DD had this procedure last Autumn but didn't have the general anaesthetic. I don't know if your DS is old enough to have it without this, as it does mean you get over it more quickly and she was fine straight afterwards and we went straight home. She was sick at the time but that is more because she has a very sensitive gag reflex!

my ds is 14. I have had it done too without aneasthetic and I agree that if you can it is much better not to have an anaesthetic as the recovery is immediate but not sure if he would cope.

:rotfl: LMAO. Quote of the evening.

Here I am, a quiet woman alternating reading online with reading her library book, with a side order of tea and thinking seditious thoughts, and all hell breaks loose.

I was nearly mown down by the fleeing robber this morning.....never run. People notice. Particularly running full pelt through crowds. We needed someone to do that Crocodile Dundee thingy and bring the fleeing blighter down with a flung can. You can never find Paul Hogan when you need him.

I'd've been useless, never could pitch overarm successfully, but I didn't have a single tin on my person at the time (hangs head in shame). Nor any other projectile.

Actually, is there a legal minimum number for a brawl? Our brawl was three men. Do you have to have more than that to qualify as a brawl and, if so, at what point does a brawl become a riot?

My Inner Pedant worries about such things. I was a bit rubbish with the Polis this morning - in answer to could I describe him was a white male running full tilt thataway........:p

Sorry to read about those who have had upsetting days.

Feeling a bit brighter now, thanks to my heated water bottle and panadol.

I don't think of the history of chakras as being new age gobbledegook, but perhaps it is?

The posts today have certainly encouraged me to explore my beliefs on these matters and this side of my heritage further, and for this I thank you all.

Wishing you all a calm evening. Good Night/Bye.

happy birthday pookie, I hope you had an enjoyable day.

Ester we are also doing rubber chicken this week. We are a family of 3 adults and a teenager and a large chicken from Aldi has done roast dinner for 4, chicken salad for 1, risotto for 5, and the carcass and remaining meat (been bulked out with veg, dried beans and soup mix) has made soup for 8. I hate to think about how many times I threw the carcass before I learned to make soup with them.

sugarpuss I love dippy duck eggs with toasted soldiers it is my weekend treat breakfast. There is so much more yolk in a duck egg and a colleague at work sells them cheaply.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Just dropped back in add my thanks Mrs LW. As always you manage to make me feel better. I don't know how you do it.

One lovely positive thing - The actual building work has started on our new A£di's. The ground has been cleared and lots of cables and drains etc have been installed over the last few months but today there were vertical bits being erected. YAY! It's about a 20 minute drive from home which means in Island terms that I'll have to set off with a thermos, blanket and torch every time I go there. Islanders regard any journey of over 10 minutes as a long and treacherous expedition.
Soon after I arrived I heard a man telling his group of friends that his daughter was getting married.
"She marrying a local lad?" someone asked.
"Nah," came the reply, "he comes from Bembridge." (about 5 miles away).

How did we get on to this?

    Sorry
