Just had some fruit and fibre-cheaper equivalent- with a pot of home made yoghurt and it was delicious.
We have had a couple of showers today but now the sun is shining and it's very windy.

mrs veg plot I know OH would like an allotment but it would be too much work so he will have to make do with the garden.

angel jenny I feel that I am becoming more OS as I get older (at my grand age of 46!)

shegar wow all those hens! there is a house we pass on the way to school that has eggs and a box outside. I might stop and have a look. glad you are managing to get some rest.

popperwell hope you have had a good day. was it today you were going out?

ginnyknit the cushion sounds lovely. I had one of those for ds2 and love the pattern on it. I have no use for it but can't bear to get rid of it.

dashurie your little bantam sounds so cute

the dog woke up and got bored so I needed to take him for a walk. we only had a couple of light showers.

Fluffy kitten has moved herself back to her cushion in the conservatory, had a wash and her next lot of meds but still hasn't eaten/drunk/litter trayed.....I shall give her some water via syringe this evening just to try and keep her hydration up. She still looks so poorly tho, horrible feeling so helpless.

Just cooked a zillion and 5 pizzas for DDs friends, they're having a film afternoon before heading out for a smooch at the disco, oh to be 15 again.

pooky I hope your kitten is getting better. It is horrible when pets are not well and you feel so helpless

all the talk of elderflower made me curious so I googled it to see if I had seen any on my dog walks (I know, it's shocking that I didn't know and I grew up in the country too). I found a picture on the website of a company who would send the elderflowers to make the champagne for £15:eek:

I found elderflower... But in Tesc0 car park and I haven't the nerve to go foraging there. I've settled for an elderflower and lime flavoured cider. The search continues.

Hello everyone! Nice to have you posting with us. :)

Sheila I had no idea you had so many chickens. How many eggs do you get a day?

    Hi Bun,
yes i should've been in Richmond but bustery showers changed plans. Not looking good for the food event tomorrow but can't put that off...my friend has a stall and did I say, she is promising banoffepies, ginger scones, ginger beer and chocolate cinder toffee. There's more but when you have to bring it back via public transport...I've actually found some extra ideas for her to try out.:)

I'm buying extra as a thank you to a friend on here and now in real life for her support during recent troubles but that's the kind of person I have always been,I don't need a reason. Don't get the chance to do it these days(I'm thinking scones, cinder toffee and a bottle of beer)I know at our music club she drinks Crabbies so this is a change. I'm sure my friend also hinted, giving me some of the eggs her hens lay(not for sale usually)so we'll just have to see.

Going to have some fruit salad and yogurt soon...

I fear it will be wet and windy, I will keep fingers crossed.

For my evening meal I have a bacon and cheese turnover, baked beans and a change as I found a half price cheese, bacon and potato bake so will have that too. If I don't eat it all I may have some tomorrow and add veg.

I found two packs of tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches reduced worth £3(I paid 78p)so will take them in my rucksack when I am out at the event.

I must make some cake tomorrow, looking for munchy goodies and somehow hm oatcakes aren't the same.....wanders off to find twinks hobnob recipe...
thanks for the suggestion Ginnyknit .
    Caz

I may look into this further...it wouldn't bother my neighbours, I know it wouldn't and if I can stay here the garden is big enough for a small number.

  • Pops I would just check your tenancy agreement with the HA before you go ahead and get chickens. Many tenancies have a clause saying no poultry. I own my house (with mortgage!) and even here there are covenants saying no poultry - or pigs!

I'm not sure it is the thought of sparrowhawks that would be the problem. There is a feeling that they can attract rats - possibly attracted to loose corn (or something).

I would hate you to encounter more problems with the HA just after you had got rid of them.

  • Sorry, meant to add, Pooky hopefully fluffy kitten having a wash means she is feeling a little bit better and will start eating, etc., soon.

When I was little we had a coal/coke fire with coal and coke bunkers outside. No fridge until I was three or four and my mum had a twin tub into the 1970's. Went to a Museum of the twentieth century and saw lots of things that I recognised from my childhood such as the design on plates that we had etc which I hadn't even thought about being from a certain era or dated. We had indoor toilet but both sets of grandparents had outside loos when i was little. No central heating and even now my parents only have the radiators on in the room they are in and hall and turn the ones on in the bedrooms if it is cold for a bit before going to bed or the bathroom when they are getting a bath. Love these memories. Esther x

Edited to add, I think in our deeds it states no pigs. Don't know about chickens and not sure why I seem to remember "no pigs" lol.
