Hi Jem, how lovely that you posted
Cyprus, you lucky lady! It will be gorgeous there in May. Good luck with the saving x
nuttyp You poor love, so glad you feel a bit better. I knowo it's difficult when you feel there's a lot to do but try to listen to your body and rest when it tells you to.
Sheila I hope you're okay and managed to contact a doctor x
savingqueen I hope you and DS make a speedy recovery
I went to church this morning but haven't done much apart from that. I've had trouble keeping warm despite having plenty of clothes on, but I always have cold feet in the winter anyway. I'm wearing my warm walking socks. I think I might get a couple more pairs as I've only got four and they take some time to dry after washing. They are expensive but sooo cosy.0 -
((((((((((nutty))))))))) take it easy love, "force" yourself if necessary into relaxing eg. a soak in the bath, a favourite film or whatever works.
Nice to hear from you jem. How is your health at the mo? What a fab holiday to save up for!
Ivyleaf, hope your feet warm up. Would soaking your feet in a warm bowl of water, followed by a brisk rub dry and then sticking on layers of thinner socks with a thick pair on top help? The cheapy soft bedsocks from prime-ark and similar would add a cosy layer and dry really quickly.0 -
Nutty - not surprised you had a problem with your breathing given what's going on in your life at the moment. Please try to get a few minutes to yourself just to breathe gently, quietly & calmly. Easier said than done I know but it will help. Hugs & have everything crossed for you & DH tomorrowSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Nutty - take care of yourself lovely - you've done tough before so you can do it again and hopefully hubby will get sorted with a new job soon, and we are all here for you to rant at if necessary chick - Hx
Took Little Miss Stilty on a momentous outing today - her very first trip to the big screen of wonder that it the cinema. Naturally it was to see Frozen (as if she hasn't seen it 5 million times at home - even 5 times in 1 day when the chicken pox was at its worst), but it is her very favourite. She was utterly transfixed - you'll know the phrase 'eyes like saucers' well hers were ruddy great serving platters!! She went to bed tonight still signing I love Frozen, I love you. It was even a great price as it was a Sunday morning kids special so just £1.50 each and I booked the tickets over the phone and booked her a wheelchair space so we were in a really good spot too. Even the parking was free on a Sunday so long as you remembered to get your ticket validated in the cinema.
Hope you all well and surviving the festive season - Hx0 -
nutty and Sheila hope you are both feeling better today. Look after yourselves that's an order xx
Fuddle enjoy your few days of peace and quiet and recharge your batteries. Well done on how you treated your family despite their best efforts to bring you down xx
Stiltwalkersounds like a great day that miss stilts will remember for a long time to come and one that didn't cost a fortune either very OS xx
Mrs L nice to see you back posting
Very frosty here but no snow yet so just trying to stay warm xx0 -
Nutty I hope you were able to rest today
Possession - I hope your house move comes together soon
Monnagran - you are a wonderful person, being willing to change your plans. Its a rare and wonderful thing in my experience.
MrsLW - so lovely to have you post again
Sheila - I hope you were able to get some medical advice and are now feeling a little better
Ivyleaf - have you tried the soft thick socks, B&M, Primark etc all sell them fairly cheaply and they dry really quickly? My kids all love them and swear they are warmer than the expensive thick boot socks.
Jem - sounds like you have been working hard over Christmas, good luck with the saving
SQ - hope you had a quiet day today to get better
Fuddle - have a lovely child free few days,
Stiltwalker - so glad DD enjoyed the cinema, its a favourite outing for my lot.
I have had a sort out today, OH was working in London yesterday so was out for 18 hours, we didnt do much and enjoyed a relaxed day, but today we sorted part of the loft and took all the boxes of things that are well out of warranty to the recycling centre. Put away this years boxes and made some space. Am renewing the kids merlin passes tomorrow as they have been such incredible value for money, then on Friday I have booked an overnight stay at a cheap hotel chain in Edinburgh. We have accrued a discount from OH frequent stays, and between our zoo passes and Merlin passes, we will only need to pay for food and drink and we can have a couple of days away.0 -
Sorry to hear of your hospital visit Nutty. Try and rest, even if you can't relax.
Jem, a trip to Cyprus sounds lovely and a nice goal to save for.
Kidcat, the only thing nicer than a couple of days away is a cheap couple of days away! Hope you have a lovely time.
I have a little pipedream of my husband and I having a proper holiday away. I've always dreamed of going to Vegas and seeing the shows (and frankly buffet dining is my favourite food). Each year though our holiday time and budget is usually spent with me heading on my own to see my mum in England (on occasion when dad was ill, twice). 2014 saw us flying her and a friend out to stay in an apartment here and showing them all the tourist attractions in the area for 3 weeks. Not all that relaxing! I mentioned to her that I might skip a year so we could holiday together once.... that didn't go down too well. And then there's money, what with us maybe moving.
Ah well, I already missed seeing Siegfried and Roy, by the time I see Penn and Teller they might be doing tricks at their retirement home :rotfl:.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff - it may be you need to be a little selfish one year and insist you both need the break, after everything you have been through you so deserve it,
I would dearly love just one night away with OH alone, just to have a grown up evening, I have accepted that it is not possible though as we are parents and our kids need us. Your mum is a grown up and well able to understand your need for a holiday together.0 -
I second/third/fourth the Primarni fluffy socks, I've also come across these in Poundstretcher, but quality wasn't quite as good.
Nuttyp I am so sorry that you've had such carp.
I hope your DH is sorted out quickly.
Fuddle, good on you, enjoy the break, such a looong drive but worth it for the freedom you'll enjoy. Our house to Cardiff took 4 and a half hours the last time we went, with DS driving.
DS drives to speed limits where possible but never hoofs it well over the limit. I remember the days - 30 years ago- when the journey time was at least six hours and that was with minimal comfort stops.
Just had my three yearly mammogram appointment land on the doormat. I could have sworn it was two years since the last one.
I'm praying that it isn't icy the day of the mammogram so that I can safely cycle there and back and save about £6 on taxi fares - although it's on bus routes, there are very long walks (for me!) at each end. So walking not an option, really.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
