Those condensation traps certainly work. I used to buy them from Woolies, I think Wilkinson/Wilco are the nearest thing to them these days. You will probably find them in the market.

Great, thanks :) lakelund are £5 W!lko's are 25p cheaper. I note W!lko refills are quite a bit cheaper ;)

Got myself all confused. Was about to get the cranberries out of the freezer and chop the leeks for that mash when I realised I was going to use up the tomato sauce from last night. :rotfl:

Gave myself a haircut with DH's electric clippers :rotfl: just the back of my growing out short hair. It's matched up to the front bit now. So wish the old dye would grow out though. My ends look brassy. I am very fond of my grey strands. Another make up item has bit the dust too. No more eye liner. :) I am literally on foundation, mascara (light, just for definition) lip salve and a little blush. Come a long, long way :rotfl: The next step is rimless glasses that transition into sunglasses but I think they are very expensive. I get my glasses from US for cheap so that will be a shock.
  • Fuddle ....Im another one praising the de humidfier , I used one years ago when I had a lot of condensation on the windows , I use to take an old towels to soak up the windows every morning and the water use to lay on the window sills......
I would put the machine at the bottom of the stairs and leave all interior doors open and it soon took litres and litres of water out of the house, when first used I had to empty the container every day ,it was true what they say about them , if you leave all doors open one machine will do an entire house.......Plus I dont think they are expensive to run....Savingqueen...Your right about keeping the little windows open all the time , the more you keep the place shut up the more condensation you will get....
Kidcat......I hope you havent had to do a 2 hour journey this afternoon, thats a long run to take tablets....
Horrible cloudy day to day , I went to see OH , he happy as larry , he was glad to see the dawg Bo, spent couple hours with him, I got there just before lunch and they soon offered me lunch with them I kindly accepted, it was chicken and potato pie with veg , and lovely cheesecake , wow it was lovely , he say he enjoys his food there and I can see why , he is so well looked after , he got lovely room over looking the sea , good food and good staff to look after him, he really is enjoying being there......

There is a lot of dementia people in there , and when they see the dog all their faces light up its lovely to see them making a fuss of Bo, think he should be a "pat dog".....So funny how people sit nearly asleep but soon as the dog go in peoples moods light up , I wouldnt dare go in the home without Bo cos OH always talks to the dog before he talks to me .....Man and his dog springs to mind....Hope your all well and catch you all later...Sheila

Awwww at your kitten talk Pooky.

Sheila - great to hear how your DH sounds so happy and contented - and still glad to see you and Bo though.

Monnagran you sound fairly organised re chrimbo - like many on here. Would be fantastic if you could avoid the last minute stress.
I am still in birthday mode let alone Christmas. Today was the little unofficial party at home - just some party type food and birthday cake (and the children weren't too bad, though the mess only half cleared up is pretty bad.) Sat is the official event with a trip to the cinema and a certain pizza place. We have to save up to do this, not sure we will be able to afford it next year. Feeling a bit melancholy thinking of family. My mum phoned and birthday boy answered and then she said bye and hung up. Haven't spoken to my mum (or dad, sister, nephew or inlaws for that matter) at all this year. Oh well I will be ok.

off to tuck birthday boy in, he will asleep within 10 mins I think

    Good morning everyone :)

Pooky Thanks for the heads up about the window vac. I'm keeping an eye out. I'm also suffering from kitten envy. They are so cute. Want to trade my DH for one?

I'm glad that the party went well savingqueen You are doing a great job xxx

I'm glad that your DH has settled in so well chickens11 :)

I hope your DD is ok kidcat and that you don't have to take her any meds.

After a couple of hours of very strange and disjointed dreams last night I am struggling to stay awake this morning. I'm waiting for an am*zon delivery so am hoping that turns up soon so I can have a shower before work at 1pm. As you know if I go in before it arrives then I will have to answer the door wrapped in a towel and risk freezing my not inconsiderable tushy off.
I am at the "I have no idea what to cook" stage at the moment, so dinner might have to be freezer surprise.

    Take care everyone xxxxx

    Morning all

SDG - kind offer but no - I'll stick with the kittens!

We've kept the kittens confined to one room since they arrived and introduced the bigger cats one at a time - they're all still a bit hissy but calming down so this morning we let the kittens explore the rest of the house - they've made it round the hall and into the kitchen but keep darting back to their play tunnels to chase each other and roll around in a little fluffy ball of cuteness.

DH has a hospital appointment at lunch time in the nearest city centre, a real pain as every other appointment he's had for this clinic has been more local. I shall use the petrol wisely and pop into a few shops that we don't have locally.

Cheese and leek omelettes for tea and I'll make a couple of batches of mini quiches too - lots of eggs to use up.

    thanks peeps :)

i'm so so proud of him. His physics teacher said he's feels redundant because DS just "gets" it and never seen anyone slot into physics so well.:D

Hope the party went well sq :D

DS2 was a bit of a handful yesterday in town, went after school and he was throwing himself about, constant state of crisis. But hes gone to school today and doesn't finish till five. DS goes to youth club costs 50p and its fab, so will meet ds1 at 3 and spend some time with him.

going to dads soon, the "ear man" is visiting today at 1. But i am very suspicious, they not from adult social services, council, hearing centre or gp.Better not be a sales person
On the plus side we have success!!!
My friend, whos a cleaner is going to dads once a week for 2 hours to basic housekeeping. :j:j:j

Took me six months of persuasion but guess what we had a meeting last night and he instantly liked her.Hopefully starting next week. She was very shocked at state of the house and i did say to her that at any point if its too much to just walk out and leave no questions asked. Its a massive job, and she praised how much i have actually done. For instance we can actually walk around now. Before couldn't see the carpet and was like a tunnel :o:eek: Very embarrassing. But she didn't seem phased she just joked with the whole time, no disparaging no filthy looks instead just walked around saying ah it won't take long, as long as they's coffee and milk i'm happy. She one of the few people that knows about his dementia and she is very trustworthy and will call me if anythings wrong.

Sounds daft i know but its great having someone to assist.

'Puter finally sorted - so just skimmed through to try to catch up.
Fuddle Just to say I understand where you are coming from & stay strong for you and your lovely little family.
Kezlou What a rightly proud Mum you are & well done to DS and well done to you too for persevering on your Dad's behalf - it must be such a relief to know someone else will be with him to keep an eye on him too.
    PookyOOOOh Kittens!!! Bliss!

Turned out my security programme on my 'puter was blocking my internet access - course I'll be safe from hackers & virus if 'tinternets turned off!!!
Its a bit disconcerting though to realise how much you come to rely on being able to access information immediately :(

Hugs to all who may need them
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Oooh! I turn my back for a minute and there's a saga to read.

Pooky, just love your kitten stories. I'd love the chance for a snooze covered in kittens.

Fuddle, just want to echo everyone else and wish you good luck with your mam.

We have a condensation problem with the windows at this time of year too. I've been going round mopping up with tea towels. But I have one of those K*rch*r window cleaner gadgets and it never even occurred to me before to use it for the condensation .:o

My home phone has been misbehaving for ages. I've known I needed to replace it for, oh let's see, at least two years now, but have been putting it off and off. I've just doubled up my T*sco vouchers and have a new 'free' phone. Why didn't I do this sooner?

I'm feeling a bit reflective as I've been to a funeral today. Nothing like a funeral to make you realise what really matters in life. It was a humanist ceremony and I hadn't been to one like it before. No singing, but some nice music played, and a couple of poems. I've told DD that when my time comes, I'm expecting her to tell some funny stories at my expense.
