Lyn, Himself remembers the Fent Shop.
I think we had coffee in Libertys a couple of times, and had several meals in the Bernie Inn (do you remember them) we always had a very good meal there.
When DD1 qualified as a Nurse we bought her a silver buckle from one of the independent jewellers just up from Libertys.

Details of Mr Ms new card with price comparison is on Martins blog it does include own brands unlike the other sm. It is the fact that it costs us £5 with DSs bus fare into town, the walk out the other side and the taxi back. Mr M is at the top of the next street so no fares. I am going to compare my receipts for next few weeks and see what the difference is now and then compare afterwards. It will be nice to have a loyalty card not tied to petrol, which is no good to me.
My memories of Canterbury are about 25 years old too. I went to a conference in the summer at the uni when DS39 was 15 and he will soon be 40. It makes me feel old.
I was just going to suggest Fuddle Googled cinnamon buns when you gave out the recipe Lyn. I wont risk them in my oven as it probably will not get hot enough.
If I tell the landlord he will probably just disable it like he has with the gas fires. We really need it for the back room as the kitchen is just a lean-to off the back room with no heating or insulation, the staircase is off that room too and is open so it gets really cold in there even with the radiator on.
It is much colder here too though it has been cold in the evenings for a couple of weeks and I have had to have two radiators on in the evenings. I had to put a blanket on the bed last night and put my bedsocks on. I had better put my winter duvet on tonight.0 -
Just made 30 cinnamon buns - I may have slightly underestimated the size of rolling needed, so I've kind of made gifflar style rather than tea plates, but they are tasty - and the guinea pig seems to approve, too. Who knew that guinea pigs eat kannelbullar - must be a Swedish guinea pig!0
-
Thinner dough? Most probably thinner hips! Something tells me that it is highly probable that you have a Swedish guinea pig.
Lyn our tomato chutney is lovely but I have read that you have lost your toms over night! I feel awful having some of your ripened stash.
How long have I been crocheting? What part of a 10 year old and a 6 year would you think would tell them that it's a good idea to unravel mam's crochet????? Apparently the part that were seduced by trying to make it look like sheep fleece again!0 -
Oh no Fudds!!!!!! But hey - it gives you something to do to crochet it all up again.
I was busy working away all afternoon thinking "gosh this house is warming up nicely now the suns on it".........I'd left the ruddy oven on after lunch!!!!
Good job it was sunny and the solar panels will have negated any extra cost.
Off to slurp a cuppa before joining DH in the garden to have a look at the stars....I think a blanket and some gloves might be required out there tonight."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

VJMum I love white stuff too always looking for bargains when sales are on, funny talking about Canterbury Feniwicks have a white stuff outlet there, it's not my favourite place either. Pooky my DD went to college there too!
How nice Fuddle and Lyn to be able to meet up put a face to the person!
Cinnamon is one of my favourite spices I love adding to cakes and crumbles.

Evening all. You're making me hungry for cinnamon buns and I don't even like cinnamon!
We are playing 'mind the paintwork' here, or rather who can touch the wet paintwork the most. The front room is finished though and looks lovely.
I've also been sorting all of DS's lego, with a tiny bit of help from him. He's decided he doesn't want it anymore so he has the accumulated contents of about 5 years of birthday and xmas presents to sell. It's all mixed up but even so he should make a fair bit, and it gets it out of the house which is a major bonus. Let's just say it hasn't been the most relaxing of weekends.0 -
To all afficionados of kannelbullar, they're even nicer (I know, hard to believe!) if you add gound cardamon to the cinnamon/butter mixture, nom nom nom.
I'm hungry now! Also, I didn't realise Ikeea were doing bullar again, just the frozen ones or can you buy the bags with the tiny ones in that never quite make it home as sustenance is needed for the journey back....0 -
Good morning,
Just popped in for a lurk and all the talk about cinnamon made me crave it so much that I am about to get up and make cinnamon porridge! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
