Hi SDG
Both my boys went to uni in Hull and had an absolute ball. For us it was far enough away that they couldn't bring their washing home and had to learn to feed themselves but near enough if there had been an emergency ( there never was ) I cried when they went and it is special when they come home so enjoy the peace and quiet and the full fridge.

Hi Caterina :hello: Lovely to see you over here! Do pop in often, it's a lovely thread.
nursemaggie We bought some mince pies, yesterday, i do love themThe only trouble is that I eat too many during the lead-up to Christmas, so by the time it's here, i've had enough of them
SDG Congrats on the new niece  Good luck to youe son, I'm sure he'll settle in fine.
Which reminds me, ((HUGS)) to everyone who's worried about their children off to uni for the first time, or missing them dreadfully.

patentgirl What a shame your promotion isn't (so far) working out as you'd hopePerhaps it will become less stressful when you've been doing it for longer.

Well done SDG you've launched a fine boy on the first solo voyage of his life. Good parenting my dear and you WILL both get used to it, he'll have a whale of a time and you'll get used to the gap he's left after a little while. Holidays are nice too and more special because they come back into the fold and enjoy being looked after again. Not long to Christmas and you will have time to wrap presents in peace and not have to hide in the bedroom to wrap them up on christmas eve because the kids are ALWAYS there!!!aren't they?0

I found my feather duster!!!
The amount of spiders I've upset this afternoon is staggering - I now have visions off them all congregating in the bedroom tonight to exact their revenge.
I feel very on edge at the moment - not sure why but for the last few days I've had a feeling of overwhelming imminent dread....I really can't explain why though. There's nothing happening to make me feel this way (that I know of), life's ticking along quite well. I wonder if it's a phase of the moon or something. Quite unsettling and I wish it would hurry up and b*gger off!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
POOKY what you've been feeling is the united tiny minds of all those spiders watching you get closer and closer to where they'd hidden the feather duster!!!!!and going 'Oh NOOOOOOOOO!!!'0

Happy Birthday Kidcat - hope you've had a good day.
We've had a lovely day here, my mum and I took DD to Yarndale and boy oh boy did she love it! She picked out some lovely bits and pieces and made a gorgeous piece of felt when we got back. She'd picked a bag because 'it looked like sky' and we got her another bag of darker blue bit and some sparkly bits which she added on top. She has used her talker really well today - chatting away all the way round and making lots of new friends of all the stall holders.
Hugs where needed or wanted. Catch you all later - Hx0 -
Hi, checking in.
Husband enjoyed his steam train adventure. He even made a friend. Which if you know my hubbie, isn't that common.
Youngest son finished his course and is working (a huge relief to me as I no longer have to subsidize his living expenses). He writes in national exam before Christmas and is then fully qualified.
I've developed migraines. Four since mid-July. Photophobia and vomiting type ones. So I have to go back and see the doctor. The tablets have helped but he's concerned with the frequency. Wants to do a head CT. Should point out that I have a brain despite what my manager thinks.
The Collie is off to the groomer this week. He needs it. He won't let anyone near him with a comb the last couple of days, and those coats go to hades in a handbasket really quickly.
Glad the school year started well for everyone. It always seems more like a new year than the January one to me.0 -
Stilty - So jealous of you being close enough to go to Yarndale, it always looks so lovely (well what I see of it via Attic24's blog)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

A bit late I know but HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIDKAT! Hope you had a good day.
I got a lovely surprise today when my son and daughter-in-law turned up with a gift - pens designed for those (like me) with arthritic hands. Don't know if anyone else has seen them. They are quite short and have a forked grip. The nib has an easy release trigger - a bit too easy to use - I almost put DS eye out with it! :eek:Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0
