Well done MOS for all those burgers, that's very savvy purchasing on your part!
Thank you
Waitrose seem to be the only place where an 'original' deal still goes through even if the item is reduced. The burgers were originally £6.50 a pack  and they had them on 2 for £10 deal saving £3.00 but they had reduced them to £2.99 a pack and it still took off the £3.00 if you bought 2 reduced packs.0 -

I use to find reduced items in @ldi, not any more. Havent found any in weeks, but in fairness the store is way busier now. Sometimes I find the odd YS in Iceland, like fresh meat but for us I find I am buying more and more frozen meat.
Last week liDl had 8 x burgers for 1.64 so we managed to get 4 packs, all separated and put in the freezer.
Tonight we are having burgers cooked in gravy with potatoes, cauli and green beans. Leftovers will be my tea at work tomorrow night as I am blessed with a nother full day.
POOKY well done on DD results, my daughter still has another year to go until collage or uniBSC member 137

Have just got back from S local supermarket and managed to find some YS items. Raspberries, blackberries, turkey mince, diced beef, river cobber and dusted herb coated fish.
Fruit will be desserts with yoghurt and the meat and fish has gone in the freezer.
Need to go and start cooking the chicken curry for tonight and experiment with making my own naan bread to go with it.
Managed to get a good deal on cereal bars for dd to take to work so pleased with my haul!"This site is addictive!"

The idea with the burgers sounds lovely, going to add that one to my list if you don't mind?
My DD starts her vet course at the RVC this year and it's a 5 year course, she is going to be seriously hard up as her accommodation is £7000+ this year! rice and beans, beans on toast, rice and beans, beans on toast..........:rotfl:0 -
Pooky, I agree about the cost of coffee shop coffees. I had to wait around one afternoon last week and was a long way from home. I went into a coffee shop to use up some time and it cost £2.75 for a cup of tea! Boiling water, a tea bag and a tiny jug of milk - extortionate.
And another thing .... Supermarkets are still offering their daft deals - on Saturday an item was £1.25 or 2 for £2.50 - people were putting 2 of the item in their trolley - maybe they thought they were getting a bargain which clearly they weren't. I usually do my shopping on line so I have plenty of time to see what is a good deal and what is just a marketing gimmick. That said its only a good deal if you needed it in the first place! I fell for the yoghurt coated raisin "deal" this week ... I didn't actually need 10 bags of the things but they are yummy ....0 -
I agree with YS stuff there is less and less. I nearly always find it is things we do not use like ready meals that are reduced. I can remember in the past buying up to 8 loaves of bakery bread for 5p or 10p. Years ago Lid1 used to give away the things that were out of date next day. Never noticed anyone reluctant to take them.
Here is one of the sites I got when I Googled free knitting patterns.
http://www.bernat.com
Click on free patterns, you will go to another site and get thousands of knitting and crochet patterns from the major yarn companies. It does start off with silly little things and then goes on to show you toys, gifts, never seen so many Throws, shawls, and blankets. The biggest project is a lacy coat. I think it is gorgeous but I don't think I can handle making it as it is made all in one piece for the body only the sleeves are separate.0 -
Evening all,
We rarely pop into other SM these days and try to stick to our @ldi shop--which doesn't seem to yeild YS items. These days if I do pop into the local Mr T's even the YS items we MIGHT eat are still more expensive than I'll get elsewhere. I did find excellent deals on ys before we moved to this part of town, so I don't know why things have changed.
I have noticed prices rising. I keep our budget in a spread sheet so i can look back. Our shopping budget has increased by £10 in the past couple of years or so, and we've become more frugal with what we buy. We still manage, and I won't complain in the least since we eat will and have the odd treat too.
As for coffee shop coffees, I think they sum up the differences in my upbringing and my other halfs. I don't really remember going to cafes outside of the odd treat when travelling, and we certainly never would have 'popped in' for a coffee while out shopping or doing errands. My OH, however, was brought up with regular cafe stops, almost every outing. He has cut back tremendously these few years, and I've learned to relax and enjoy the odd cup out once in awhile too.
Right, OH is working several nights this week so I'm off to work on some assorted projects. Feel a bit guilty though as the cat has just settled down in here for a nap and will want to come with me wherever I go. She is a great companion.0 -

SHEILA hugs, hugs, hugs and more hugs. You get yourself sorted out as quickly as it's possible to get it done by whatever means it takes to do it love. If you have to pay for the MRI scan you're worth the outlay, do whatever it takes to make you better again. Never have doubts about using your own savings to your own benefit. You can't take it with you and you need to use it NOW so no point in anguishing about it, put yourself first just this once and have a better pain free life at the end of it all, Love Lyn xxx.
CANDLELIGHT have just spoken to DD2 and they didn't get Zebra to see Dolly Parton but aparently he really enjoyed Metallica and Massive Attack!!!0
