Cornish Chick - so sorry x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Nutty, pleased to hear all is well.

PIC, it sounds like a lovely connection to another human being. And it sounds like your DH is just as lovely as you are. I'm glad to hear there was a small victory, though of course ridiculous that you must fight for it and that mental health is still not taken as seriously as it should be.

Ginny, hugs! It all comes at once, doesn't it? You've a lovely family and I like hearing about how you all pull together. I hope there is good news soon.

Quick question before I need to dash---those of you long term pet owners--any suggestions of where to buy pet food? Little Maggie had her first jabs last night and I've gotten more info on what and how much to feed her. Not sure we'll be able to stretch to the food suggested by the vet. It would cost more per day than our own food for two of us usually does  However, I'm happy to shop around, try her on things and then bulk buy to get slightly better quality. I know some of you do orders from a pet website online but can't remember which one. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I'll also be trying the goat milk as someone (was it pooky?) suggested as vet says she is fine to keep having milk if she likes it. That whiskas kitten stuff is pricey, and I suspect I might get away with freezing the goats milk into servings for her so the cost per serving is a bit more manageable!
  • NUTTY love, thank God for that, quite literally!!!

It's very interesting that we are all finding and taking supplements to our food to improve our health and finding that the problems we have are caused by lack of some vitamins and minerals in our diets. I wonder if these days we are not properly nourished because of the processing that goes on in the foods we buy and if any of the problems are actually caused by the preservatives and additives, not to mention the bulking and filling and chemical elements added to give longer storage/shelf life to the manufactured foods we buy? I wonder if our ancestors having more 'natural' and untampered with food sources were actually in better nutritive health than we are in 2014? I know we have better lives and solutions to diseases and in the main better housing and living standards, but I really do wonder if the foods we take as normal everyday items are actually causing the defficiencies that affect so many of us?

Nutty that's fab news so relieved for you X

Ginny sorry to hear yours it's not feeling like it's getting easier is it? Even my DS2 has been told he was over qualified for a job and he's never worked..they wanted someone without any qualifications! Glad to hear your beautiful GS is getting on so well as you said you celebrate the good things XX

Floss that must have made you feel very proud seeing that pic,I never fail to get choked up when I visit there,it's a real eye opener to the reality of war.It was run on a shoestring for many years by dedicated volunteers,as was the Swanage Railway regeneration and I am so glad to see both are now thriving with much more support.

I have a house picked out in Langton Matravers lol failing that anywhere from Sturminster Newton downwards would do :) We were going to move there when my parents retired but my Nan refused to budge and we couldn't leave her so we all stayed and now we're in the same position I can't leave my mum and dad, wouldn't be fair on them and they don't want all that upheaval now, but one day...

Right, sat down too long I'm starting to get comfy orf to the greenhouse again!

Have a great day all XX

    morning all,

phew nutty - so relieved to hear your news

    ((((((((((((((((cheapskate love))))))))))))))

just having a v quick cuppa before my counselling session, feeling teary but that's ok and hopefully meansI can "use" the session usefully.

bumped into one of my loveliest friends on school run, told her the news about my other friend's mum who passed away a couple of days ago . She knows my other friend now through me and we had a little weep together. This will be her first mother's day without her dear mum. Had a card for her and a condolences card to drop in to my other friend.

thank you for your kind wishes - my cold is nearly gone and I feel so much better, physically at least. Seem to have transferred it to DH though who is feeling rotten today :(.

Went to a friend's house (different friend again, should give them pysdonyms! - sp?) for an overdue catch up. Her dog had an op and was feeling very sorry for herself wearing a plastic collar cone with various dressings and sore bits. Spent most of the time on the floor cuddling her - I have a new (well only one) doggy friend.

back later for me lunch, pop on her and then to brave the shops, forgot the allldeee vouchers, asked DH who also forgot doh!

    onwards and upwards folks

Morning everyone, have had one of the best night sleeps ever last night. OH said was totally out of it as soon as I fell asleep. Today I feel great, still have the pain in the breast but I know its nothing major. My mum was so relieved too, see was worried it could have been something far worse.

I have my hours for the next few weeks at work, next week is a busy one and then it looks like I am going to be doing just a basic set. I am pleased inone way, but as always the extra cash is helpful. I know my OH will be pleased, he mentioned yesterday we need to find more time to be together, says the man who is working all weekend delivering mothers day gifts - hes a courier driver......

we will be braving the attic soon, getting things out to sell at the car boot or on facebook selling group. I am determined to get rid of unwanted items, and in the process make a bit of well needed extra cash.

I have been offered some gardening work, mums finally decided that she wants all the borders cleared and sorted out with weed barriers. If I choose to accept the challenge she will give me some ££ towards our holiday later in the year. I will be helping her, as she will be sat in a chair telling me weed or plant (I am that good). I don't mind helping her at all, its nice we can sit and chat!!

take care all, washing needs pegging out. x

Nutty, it sounds as though you are thoroughly enjoying life now that you are free from nagging worry.

PIC: Well done on getting things sorted. I wish there was some physical and visible signs of mental distress, then perhaps people (doctors included) would take it more seriously. I'm sure that it is at the root of many illnesses and bad conditions.

You and your DH are angels to look after your homeless friend so well. It's difficult enough to cope in these conditions without the added complications of diabetes and bad eyesight. Thank you on his behalf.

MrsLW: I'm reading a book about the evils of sugar and how manufacturers are sneaking it into all manner of things. It makes me want to live solely on organic meat and greenstuffs. There will be a day of reckoning one day when all these sneaky practices will be revealed.

I think it is down to the cost of raw ingredients, the lack of skill and an acceptance that its ok to ping a ready meal.

Omega 3 intake is my bug bare with the kids. I know we eat too much mince (which has to stop!) because it is cheap and adaptable for umpteen meals but no, our plates are not balanced.

Remember when I tried the primal way of eating? I just could not sustain the costs and sought back to carbs to bulk the fresh stuff out.

Such a shame because I was the best I had ever felt the fortnight I was eating fresh and pure earth foods. I am determined to look further into it again because we need to cover all basis - I know that for sure.

Fuddle, I saw a newspaper article today about a woman who put herself on a WW2 ration type diet, in a bid to lose weight. She admits some of the things she made were awful, recipes not her cooking, I think, but said she felt better and lost weight. So many veggies in things to replace or bulk out protein. When she returned to her normal diet, the weight went back on, so she's going back to it. I find that when we eat more simply, we all feel better, I think the less has happened to your ingredients the better they are.

Monnagran, I do agree with you, it will be the equivalent of tobacco - all sorts of denials by TPTB and food companies (both in it together!) then suddenly they'll think these ideas were theirs and legislate, but too late for the poor NHS having to deal with the health fallout.

Just popping by to share that I had an amazing counselling session this morning. Several things clicked into place, hard work now to follow but at least some things make more sense.

I have reasonable caffeine management now, virtual teetotal (and loving it, big surprise there!), very small steps in right direction with exercise but the sugar, I am totally addicted and have been since childhood. If anyone has any tips or reading matter that has helped them deal with sugar addiction, please share. I am determined to beat it but getting nowhere fast. My quality of life would be better in so many ways if I could have just a little like I do with caffeine now.
