Hi girlies (and guys!)
so to cut a VERY long story short, instead of going for a traditional wedding, im now looking into having a ceremony with only my bridesmaids present (family are doing my head in and that was only asking them if they would be willing to travel to a venue!)
problem is im looking for a venue for a ceremony for only 5 (maybe 6) adults - including bride and groom and 2 children.
does anyone know of any places, not bothered on the location, just has to be in the uk, that would offer a nice setting for such a small wedding?

I did look into Gretna, but I wanted somewhere more private than that if its possible, but its really difficult to find anything on google, I will give in and go for there if I have to but it wouldn't be my first choice0

I don't know whereabouts you are but Langar Hall in nottinghamshire specialises in small weddings. They do talk about around 50, but they also do properly small one - there's a section that talks about weddings of between 4 and 20 guests. Apparently it's beautiful.Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

Oh, also Langley Priory in derbyshire is very similar and specialises in intimate weddings.Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

This is not far from Gretna, weddings can have exclusive use. We went to a friends wedding here, it was fantastic.0 -

I got married there this year! We only had (including Bride and Groom) 11 people at our wedding and it was amazing. The ceremony was lovely and luckily, for us anyway, it had snowed heavily the night before and the pictures of us in the grounds were incredible.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them for a quiet intimate wedding. Also, the area around Gretna is so geared up for weddings that they can accommodate pretty much anything with short notice.0 -

I was going to say Gretna Green, as that is where we are getting married on Monday! There is only going to be 5 of us in total, me, the OH, my parents and his Mam.
We decided against the local registry office, as it is right on the corner on a main road, and right opposite McDonalds! :rotfl: We did joke that it would have been handy for the reception!
So we picked The Famous Blacksmiths shop at Gretna Green then a meal afterwards at The Smiths Hotel. We went up to book, and whilst we knew it was a fairly busy tourist attraction, we just didn't realise that is was quite how popular it was! Coach loads of tourists, loads of Japanese Tourists, really busy, and a couple of the photographic locations, are bang in the middle of the crowdsWe really don't like being the centre of attention....oh well!
Inside the Blacksmiths shop itself though, it is really lovely and cosy and intimate, and it's lovely to think that you'll be a part of history by marrying there!0 -

Many thanks for all your input, we have so far narrowed it down to either the chapel at gretna green, or millbrook cottages in devon, although i am still looking around as we have got about 6 months to book somewhere as were not under as much pressure with it being an intimate do for the two of us0
