Which new combi boiler?

I live in a one bed, first floor flat. I have four radiators. The current boiler is a Saunier Duvall installed in 2001. The hot water to the kitchen sink fluctuates significantly. It's normally only at about 20*c. If I turn the heating on it might start to heat up the water. Sometimes I need to turn the heating on and have the tap on full blast for the water to start heating up.
The shower temperature also fluctuates. I find I'm regularly turning the hot or cold tap up or down depending what the water's doing during my shower.
We don't plan to stay in the flat forever. We should be gone in less than five years. British Gas have quoted £2600 for a Worcester 24i High Efficiency but I think I could get a Baxi or Potterton Gold for less.
Any advice would be gratefully received!
Thank you.

I had Saunier duval in my old flat. All the engineers who serviced it told me that they were poor (relatively cheap to install but expensive to repair). It never worked well. My current terraced house has a Vaillant which is now 10 years old and still working very well. I have it serviced every year and I am told that it is in very good condition for its age. It heats the house well.
I can't say whether the other makes you mention would be more suitable for your place but i do recommend Vaillant. I wouldn't get BG to do the work. They messed up a repair in my house just before I moved in. Try a local firm. I have been using the same firm for over 10 years.0 -
Maybe the better question is how do we choose an installer? We've been unable to get a recommendation. Thanks.0

Personally i would go with either vaillant or Worcester, as its just a straight swap i wouldnt expect to pay anything over £1500.
As for installer, ask your friends/family, as they must have used a plumber at some point0 -
Glowworms are pretty good and mid range in terms of price. Easy to operate as well.0

Best advise ever!
Never, never, never use BG for boiler installs.
Not unless you want to pay double the going rate if you go to a local gas engineer!
Is is like using B & Q for kitchen installs . . . You pay twice as the company sub-contract the work out anyway.
If fact you have no control who they sub it to either - it could be the worst cowboy of your nightmares!!!I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!
New signature - I am a Plumber (I am just not allowed to tell you!)0 -

If you are going for a Worcester Bosch check on their website for recommended installers. My DD done this last month & was very pleased with the price & fitting, also 7yr gtee.

WB are nowhere near as good as they make out, Baxi Advanta (used to be Remeha) or the pott gold or Baxi platinumI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

For straight swap combi's I think you should be looking at £1800 to £2000.
Factors to consider which well increase is how easier it is to run the condense pipe, will the gas supply have to be increased and is roof work involved with fitting the flue?
It is vital when fitting a new boiler that the old system is clean so to prevent manufacturers for invalidating the warranty. I would also strongly recommend some form of scale reducing device as neither insurance companies or manufacturers will cover scale.
I would always advise something German such Worcester Bosch, Vaillant or Viessmann.
You should be able to get all with a 5 year warranty at least.0
