Returned mobile phones from recycling site

My son posted his old IPhone to Music Magpie for recycling. He was under the impression that it was in great condition but was informed that it had condensation and that they would recycle it for free for him or he needed to send £15 to receive it back. Is this reasonable. He and his wife live hand to mouth and £15 is a lot of money to them. Has he any recourse or is it a case of hard luck mate-watch out next time? Any sensible advice would be appreciated. Thanks

The terms that this company has when using the service (which your son will have agreed to - but probably not read) are :-
If you choose to decline the revised valuation offered within the four (4) day Grace Period when the revised valuation was offered then you may request that your items are returned to you. The cost for returning any item to you is a minimum charge of £15.00 and a maximum of £50.00 subject to the type of item you wish to be returned and as solely determined by musicMagpie.
If your son truly believes that his phone was not as described by the company - then it will be up to him to prove that OR pay the £15 to have the phone returned.0 -
I always tends to visit CEX and sell my phone or put it on ebay.0

Or you could use Mazuma who will return an item free.
http://www.mazumamobile.com/promises.phpOnce we receive your phone or device, if we find they do not meet our Terms & Conditions of Supply and the order value needs to be amended, we will email you a revised offer for your approval. If you are not completely satisfied with the revised offer, you can request to have the revised phone or device returned to you FREE of charge.====0 -
