please let us know how you get on. I am thinking of doing the same. what head unit are you using?0
-
one of these
£20 Asda freeview box and an additional aerial upto 22db that cost £10 from China this
The Freeview box is 12v with a 240v - 12v transformer so we're going to cut the cables off at the transformer and wire straight into the car.
The head unit has tv tuner so fine for tv and has RCA inputs. I nicked the scart adaptor from an old PS2 and plugged in RCA cables.
all goes together fine and fitting next weekend. Going to have it running off a Roadster amp, a pair of 6x9 parcel shelf speakers and a Sony Explode amp (about time i used them, had them years and never fitted)0 -

Because you'd need to use an omnidirectional aerial which, by definition, has poor gain. So it simply won't work anywhere that the signal isn't strong. Also, the Freeview picture will continually break up as you drive past buildings, trees etc. which block/reflect the signal.
Also bear in mind that it's illegal to mount a screen where the driver can see it when driving.0 -
this is the forum where people have done it

there are more not done it's than done it's on that threadEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

aye Albert but by the look of it the ones who did it seemed to have done it after the thread went on a bit. Failed, tinkered, failed, tinkered, worked so it is possible when you've the right kit..0

So have you done it? What's the picture like in the Welsh valleys and Scottish highlands?
Come to that, what's it like when you drive through central London?0 -
not yet, waiting for the aerial to turn up and unfortunately i won't be driving from central London to the highlands via the Welsh valleys so i can only tell you what it'll be like in the North west0
-
Ok, looking forward to the results of your TV viewing in the Mersey tunnel.0

i'm a Mancunian mate!! i'll be going nowhere near the Mersey tunnel..
i only want it so on the rare occasions i give my mum a lift anywhere, when she starts complaining about my driving i'll stick QVC on for her to shut her up.0
