British Gas - Calorific Value Rounding 2006-2011
There was a brief note on the last episode of Watchdog about British Gas allegedly overcharging customers between 2006-2011.
I have not seen anything on MSE regarding this (and could not actually find anything on the Watchdog website).
Essentially British Gas rounded the calorific value down to 4 decimal places when Ofgem stated it should only be 1. The sums involved are likely to be small, but there is the principle.
There is an article on USwitch explaining the situation:

As I'm sure was also mentioned on Watchdog, BG have donated an additional £10million to the British Gas Energy Trust to settle the dispute with the energy regulator.

British Gas has now updated its process & procedures to ensure consistency with the appropiate regulations.0
