ebay member says they have not received item!!

The tracking number is not for you to check deliver, it is for you to prove delivery in event of claim.
If you have discarded the proof, you will lose the claim outright.

Seems strange she waited so long to contact you. I usually allow about 2 weeks then contact the seller.

What difference will the 60 days make as opposed to 55? I am really cross with myself for throwing away its probably only about a week or so that I went thru all receipts and decided to throe the old ones

I think they are referring to feedback. A buyer/seller can leave feedback for up to 60 days after the transaction.

But for future reference, read the sticky on postage and keep all your receipts for 180 days.

A buyer can chargeback via paypal for 180 days, longer if they can show a fraudulent transaction.

i no longer have the tracking receipt as it showed delivered weeks ago. i have told him this but he says it has not been delivered.

You shouldn't have told him that you had chucked the receipt , now he's claiming it hasnt arrived, rubbing his hands with glee as he is a dodgy one, as you would have needed to scan it and show it to Paypal if case opened there(ebay may be satisfied with just the tracking number in the casenotes though if you have the tracking on your windows page) you need the POP to give to Royal Mail to support a claim for a lost item.

From the non biased other viewpoint, whats to say you didn't actually post them recorded and just shoved in the postbox down the street and for whatever reason, it didn't get to the destination, you cannot prove you posted it either way and he will successfully be able to open a case of INR am afraid.

Keep your PO receipts for at least 6mths put them in a folder .

Why is there an assumption he is dodgy? Presumably a dodgy buyer would be clever enough to claim loss within 45 days. The chances are this is someone who was away or sick or just forgot about the delivery. If I was the seller I'd be attempting to find out where it was just to help out.

No I questioned why the OP informed her buyer who emailed to enquire of the item whereabouts, that she had replied "sorry was sent recorded I have now chucked away any evidence of posting" and told him in an email and he then comes out with"oh it hasn't arrived," cos she played into his hands by saying that. OP claimed to have looked at Track and Trace and seen siggies on their sent items and naively dispensed the receipts into the bin.

Viewpoint 2 I gave the OP was at it and didn't have any signed for receipt and is full of it. Either way there is an unhappy buyer who wants their money back and ebay will side with him cos seller has no evidence of posting and cannot claim a loss via RM nor can OP substantiate to ebay any evidence of posting.

Buyer "may" be dodgy, and now armed with the "I flung the receipt away " comment although why you would admit that is just madness even if you HAD ditched your paper receipts, you never openly admit it to the buyer ,you would just refund on the QT say sorry, :Aand move on!
