Fewer tariffs demanded in energy bills reform: what it means for you

I predict that this will all be thrown out when the suppliers start to offer time-of-day based tariffs with smart meters. The so called savings that consumers will make as a result of these meters depends on them having such a tariff and changing their behaviour. Wake up MSE!0

You may not give a damn about the supermarkets' policy but it is not a wind up. Your stance is contradictory - you mention energy (for heating) being essential when it is only necessary a few weeks per year. Food is essential fifty-two weeks per year (unless you are Naveena Shine - but she only endured 47 days).
You think it is unjust that someone should be charged a different sum per kWh for 1,000 kWh than if they use 10,000 kWh and campaign and argue against such discrimination. But you dismiss out of hand when supermarkets do this. Strange.0 -
Felt really angry at all the granny bashing out there. For the morons who simply do not get it,here are the facts. Eighty year old granny brought up a family without all the goodies on offer now ie working family tax credit, child tax credit and under the previous government baby bonds. Most of that generation did not have career women so no opportunity to save for old age, simply one income and often not a high one(no city bonuses then).Additionally state pensions one of lowest in the western world even with pension credit. Despite the Winter Fuel Allowance no increase for several years despite record increases in gas and electricity. Today's generation enjoying very low rates for mortgages due to historic low interest rates, previous generations had high interest rates and made do with second hand furniture, televisions etc. Maybe the constant bashing of older people by our politicians feeding through to the general public. Please see these are still people entitled to a life, and not one where they fear turning on the heating.Real culprits are the energy companies who have consistently kept raising their prices, accept they need to make a profit but does it have to be so high all the time?0

You find that a proportion of grannies bill goes to subsidise middleclass ecobling solar panels, as they give a better return that most savings account, and make them look green. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
