Why do you need help? What names are on the bill now? Who is paying the direct debit?
There is a continuing resident. Are they handling the direct debits?
The two of them will have a balance of £369 odd to pay at end of July. If they do not want to pay £185 plus the £74 direct debit each then that month they can leave it on the account.
Of course it is cleanest if you draw up new names on the 1 Aug and if the two existing tenants have the money they can do that. I am not sure what the problem is.0 -
My OH lives with a friend in a flat since October last year. The friend is moving out on 31st July and I am moving in.
We're having some issues with regards to the electricity and gas bill debts. Not sure who will owe what come the 31st July.
They just got a bill from npower for everything up until 17th July.
Can anyone work out what the friend needs to settle up on before I move in.
Bill here:
Hi Mat_Lock,
On this bill they've just received, you need to see if it is estimated or billed using an actual reading.
The best thing would be for your OH and the current friend to give a meter reading when the friend moves out (31st July), that way you'll be able to see what has been used up to that point - this will then be your OH and friend's responsibility.
In terms of adding another person onto the account, when your OH's friend moves out, you'll need your OH to send a letter to npower with your/their signatures on, asking to be added and named on the account.
Hope this helps!

They gave npower a reading when they moved in, a reading in January and a reading a week or so ago so I would expect it to be actual.
If a name can be added to the bill then that would be much easier as I will just take over from 1st August. I'll mention to them that you have said you can write a letter to npower to get it agreed.
Thanks Adam
