Hi Bonking Mad!
In terms of where you enter - it will be the Cromwell Green Entrance, which is past the main gates of Parliament, opposite Westminster Abbey - see the map on this web page for more info: http://www.parliament.uk/visiting/directions/layout/
Our top tips:- always turn up at least 10-15 minutes before the start of your tour because this gives you time to get through airport style security
- there are few places to sit down when having your tour (due to the privilege of being appointed to sit in the House of Lords and House of Commons) so we recommend not bringing masses of bags/luggage etc as there is nowhere to store them - and comfy footwear!
- cameras - can only be used in one room in the Houses of Parliament so do make sure to take photos in there! and of course the obligatory one with Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower)
- if you have young family members be sure to ask for the children's booklets at the desk in Westminster Hall - my favourite is the giant Big Ben poster (all leaflets at the desk are free)
This list applies to all tours including tours booked through your MP.
Hope these are some useful (insider) tips?
