Which banks/ lenders are quick at sending out credit cards?

in Credit cards
Hello all,
I've got my myself in a bit of a pickle and wondering if anyone here has any helpful information!
Basically I'm going on holiday in France in a couple of weeks and have ordered a hire car. What I didn't realise is that I needed a credit card in my name to hire the car - I don't have one. I thought we would be able to use my boyfriend's credit card but it turns out that's not the case, it has to be in my name because I'll be the one driving.
I know that credit cards can take ages to come through, and I'm panicked it won't get here on time for the holiday. My Q is - has anyone found any banks to be particularly quick at sending cards out? Or do any banks offer a rush service, where I could pay more for quicker delivery? Willing to do whatever.
Another question, can you apply for more than one card at once or would this damage my credit rating? I have applied for an "instant decision" one online already, but am hesitating to apply for more at the same time.
Any help massively massively appreciated.
Thank you x

Probably best to apply with the bank you hold an account with.0

Do you have a family member with a credit card? Maybe they could add you as an additional card?0

On multiple applications, other lenders may me able to see the search you have already made but not the outcome. More than 2 searches in a 6 month period can have adverse effects on your credit rating0

Virgin are usually quick - got one in 6 working days0

Applied to Santander on Friday, got my pin on Tuesday & card on Wednesday. Not sure if this is because I bank with them.My Debt Free Diary

Thanks everybody - great advice so far. I didn't know you could get added on to a family member's card, will definitely look into that.
And will speak to virgin/ my own bank today.
I've never used these forums before - definitely will do again!
Thank you x0 -
You can be added to another persons account (most issuers arent too picky as to why or the relationship) with just a basic ID check if anything at all.
As a secondary cardholder you spend and the primary cardholder gets the bill and is the only one liable for paying it. In most cases they are also the only ones that can see anything to do with the account but some providers may provide an own spending view and own benefits section etc to secondaries (eg AmEx)0 -
Whatever happened to the 'instant decision' card you applied for? I understand from your post that you don't know whether you were successful or not - did you get it? It doesn't sound very instant if you don't know...
Also, I would attempt to avoid the cards that say they are easier to get if you can. It depends on your credit rating of course, but as a general rule, cards like that (Aqua, Vanquis etc) have low limits which won't work with car hire schemes.0 -
Herbalus,
It was aqua - it said online that they could offer me one. I've since called them to track the progress and they said my status is "under offer", whatever that may mean. If it actually won't work anyway this whole thing is pointless...
My bank has just turned me down. So now I've applied for 2, sounds like I shouldn't apply for anymore, so as not to adversely affect my credit rating...? This is a minefield!
Think the additional cardholder might be the best option. Hello mum..0 -
Aqua took nearly 4 weeks from applying to receiving my card and pin.
Try these.
