Npower bill help please?

Hi all I've just moved into my new house (22nd March) we have never put the heating on and everything is electric, the only gas we use is for a small bath every few days and the odd sink full for when there's not enough pots to justify putting the dishwasher on. Just received a very confusing bill stating that from 22nd March - 10th June we owe £300!:eek:
This is my first time on a direct debit as we've only ever used pre payment meters. They have worked out we have used over 7,00kWh, but on the next page they have estimated we will use 512kWh over the next 12 months (11thJune13- 10th June 2014) I am so,so, beyond confused! Please help!

P.S we are on a '92 CF meter and I have just worked out (from both my own readings) that between 1st June- today we have used 3units.. yet our bill states the previous months we have used in excess of 100!

Give them a ring and see what tariff you are on. If you are on the standard one, its usually the most expensive and negotiate onto a cheaper one and then try asking them if they will now re calculate the annual figure and then divide it by 12.

When you moved in, what was the Gas meters reading that you gave to n'power, what was the End Reading on the £300 bill and was it Estimated ?

If you are really not using the heating over the Winter, you will be a 'LowUser'
and as such should probably not be with n'power for your Gas supply, but please post the meter readings above.

have you converted the cubic feet to KWH?

Can't tell you what the reading was when we moved in as I wrote it down on a scrap of paper and gave them it over the phone when I gave my details for them to set up my account. All the readings are estimated except the end one which I gave myself

No I've not, it says Calorific Value 39.7 141 = 4500kWh &
Calorific Value 39.7 70 2234kWh

I only moved in in March and being a terraced house and recently having new roofing and coating it does keep heat in very well so I haven't found a need to put the heating on, the house has constantly been around 20 degrees for the past few weeks now according to my thermometer

The meter charges
Look at your meter - It will be marked m3 if it's a Metric model, or ft3 it's the Imperial type - For an m3 Metric meter multiply the meter units used by 11.2 to get a close figure of the kwh you will be charged for - For a ft3 Imperial meter multiply the units by 31.5 for the number of chargeable Kwh

The £300 Bill
It's a pity that you have lost the first reading given to n'power, as without it the bill can't be checked - Does the bill have an E alongside it's End Reading - If it does that means it's Estimated, in which case how does that reading compare to what your meter says today?

Have you contacted the supplier to provide your actual curent meter readings? :huh:
